3 different types of bumps on penis head!

Posted , 27 users are following.

I have had three different types of bumps appear on my penis head for around a month. Before this time, I had some light genital contact with a girl.

The bumps are as follows:

Flat cluster of bumps around the urethra.

Two pimple-like spots on the frenulum.

3 or 4 pin-sized nodules sticking out (like tiny skin tags), located on the head/gland.

All three bump types are hard to spot unless the skin is stretched. They are more visible during an erection. There has been no / minimal change to appearance overall. Sometimes they have been less prominent.

STI tests are clear. I'm presuming HPV as the symptomns can be minimal. Any help would be great!

Bill, most of these bumps - or potentially all - are naturally present on the head of the penis, only, we do not notice them until they become irritated.

So, think about what life is like for the skin of the head of your penis: what is it in contact with on a daily or regular basis? This can be from soap to body wash such as shower gel and anything else.

Then there are the demands made of the skin: are you sexually active, if so are condoms involved, always, sometimes, never? Do you masturbate regularly, and the relevant part of this is the irritation the skin may experience, particularly if a Lube, skin cream, baby oil, that kind of thing is placed on the penis on a regular basis? Perhaps you hydrate the skin with something in particular, again a skin cream, lotion that kind of thing on a regular basis.

Most often it comes down to a simple equation: remove the source / sources of the irritation ant the skin will likely begin to recover slowly - this would not be an overnight process and even if you removed all the potential sources of irritation you may not notice any real change for 5 or 6 months, or even more .....

      Thanks for your in-depth reply!

I'll be sure to remove any potential causes and ensure I wash with the area with water only for a while.

My concerns were raised because I didn't really have a change in lifestyle before these bumps popped up. As far as I'm aware they were not present ever before.

Excessive dry masturbation is a factor, which I've cut down on - but hasn't caused this before. No condoms involved in sex, usual shower products etc.

I was also feeling slightly feverish and often get small aches in my lower back around this period. I assumed my immune system was trying fight off a serious infection.

Here's a few more pics just to be sure. Thanks again.

The fact that you have done similar things previously and not had this before is missing the point: what you get is an accumulative impact of all the 'bad stuff' and the skin simply cannot take the onslaught of irritation any longer. So yes, it could be the same shower gel or soap even, that you have been using from being a kid, the skin reaches a point where it simply just becomes more irritated, irrespective of what is actually applied to it.

There is little point in putting 'good stuff' in place for a little while as this most likely will not make any noticeable difference - change is a lengthy process involving the good stuff being constantly put in place, over an extended period of months.

If you like, go see a Dermatologist and it is most likely most of them will prescribe a variety of different things, some may provide some benefit, but the problem comes back. Few Dermatologists take a natural healing approach and try to return irritated skin to a natural state - so the normal process is, men go to a dermatologist, try a few medications, then eventually, 2 or 3 years down the line, basically the same problem still exists ........

That makes a lot of sense, thanks!

I have since been paranoid and progressed to trying an apple cider vinegar overnight treatment. I then covered the area with Vaseline the next day.

The areas of concern around the corona went slightly pale after the treatment and after a day turned into dark/black scabs.

I understand ACV may cause this to different conditions (such as over-keratised glands), however I also have read that this is a cure for hpv.

Further into my research, I came into contact with Bowens Disease and Bowenoid Papulosis. These are closely/potentially linked to hpv and often occur on the glans penis when they are.

I am unsure of where to go or who to talk to as STI clinics have glanced at the issue and said there is nothing to worry about.

I would try to contact a Dermatologist who specialises in Genital Skin Disorders. Depending on where you live that may be relatively easy, or quite difficult to achieve.

However, if you have a main Sexual Health Center in your area give them a ring and ask how you would get to see a Genital Skin Disorders Dermatologist, they may suggest you see one of their Urologists, but I would still ask for the contact details of the specialist Dermatologist, so you can see them both if necessary.

There is a lot of sense in what Brian has said ......

Hi, I'm yet to see a specialised dermatologist but i did visit the clinic and was told that the bumps around the urethra look normal. The ones around the corona were not as prominent at the time, so the GP shrugged them off and said nothing to worry about after a quick look. The bumps now look like this.

Could i have your opinion on their state now? No pain. Mild itch here and there. Most of the time no itch. They're just visually prominent and are only focused in this area.

So, there is more than a grain of truth when the GP said these are nothing to worry about. Lots of men who show their penis to the GP will have a very similar, if not worse appearance to your penis.

Essentially, as I initially said, the bumps and slight crater appearance on the head of your penis are quite natural. If your penis has not had this appearance since you became mature as an adult (knowing your age would help?) then what causes this is that what is naturally present on the head of the penis has become irritated.

The more things that are in contact with the penis that don’t need to be there then the more likely the penis head is to have this irritated appearance. Only by returning the skin of the head of your penis to its natural state will it eventually return to it’s natural state - that basically means the only safe thing to contact the skin of the head of the penis is water. The change in return to a natural state will take many months, and I mean probably in excess of 6 or 7 months of ‘doing the good stuff’ and excluding all potential sources of irritation.

i have the same problem, i get headaches sometimes feel feverish

I plan to see a health professional, but would I be incorrect in saying that because the sites I was concerned about were the only points which were burnt/scanned by the ACV, that I was correct in being concerned about the condition of the skin in this area. Does this confirm an infection?

i went thru this same thing around january.

i banged a chick raw and get head from her and when i came home i washed my junk real good with soap. then on morning i had what you have and started freaking out.

it got worse and i had to see a doctor.

    very stressfull since im married.

so i saw my doctor, a dermotolgyst and a urologyst and they all said the same thing.

    stop putting s**t on it.

let it go back to normal, kinda like a reset.

i put apple cider venigar, creams, oils and all kimds of stuff. dont waste your time it will make it worse and make you think you have all stds known to mankind.

took about 6 months to get it right again

i learned a valuable lesson of dont put it where it doesnt belong

The skin on your penis will change as you age just like every where else on your body. If the bumps you have look the same as the ones in the pictures above then its 100% normal and nothing to worry about. When you sure only use water to clean the head of your penis for a couple months. If you masturbate without any lubricant, try using some. If you had an STD/STI it would be very obvious. If you need a peace of mind so your not worrying about it just make an appointment with a dermatologist that specializes in genitils, but i wouldn't stress it buddy as long as your bumps don't look like warts then your penis is completely normal!
