Is anyone past that time yet? Will this tight feeling in my hip eventually go away? I don't have pain however, I still can't walk a long way without the tight feeling bothering me.Anyone over 6 months???? Dr said after 6 months I'll feel great??????

    Yes, ........ and no !

Had mine done end of October 2015, so yes.

Had revision 7 Jan 2016, so no.

Tightness - not really experienced this.

I do get pains in my upper thigh still if I overdo it, and get very tired very quickly this time around.

Do you massage your scar? I use aqueous cream, non smelly, also great for those with skin that is sensitive.

Why a revision? The tightness I refer to is a full maybe swollen feeling in the joint. Today is much better.

My surgeon put in my ceramic insert at an angle, then I had a second operation 10 weeks later to correct it, but that failed as it would not move.

Glad it's feeling better, so many things happen to us in this recovery, we all seem to get different pains and symptoms.

Yikes ! No!!! Not allowed - and so ... how would you characterize your reaction to that development (careful ... I have come to visualize you as quite the gentleman)?

Ouch that sucks! My procedure went great woke up no pain. Oh was I happy! A lot of leg swelling. Hardly no bruising. Incision looks great. Loved my dr! I justcwantvto feel normal again. I wonder if I will???

Well, my immediate reaction (at 4 weeks post op) was "OH NO", then thinking about all that recovery again.

But what can I do to change it?  Not much.  I can't exactly get in there and give him a hand can I?   Being very practical, I bet I could move it if I could get at it !!!

I was immediately weight bearing, and there has been no pain from the actual joint, just the thigh muscles which is normal.

So, ever the gentleman, I am now resigned to it, and 7 weeks into my second recovery.

Jen, where is the tightness is around the joint/scar or muscles can you tell?

I had severe tightness at around 6-7 weeks in my thigh, it was my muscle that was rigid and too tight. My physio sorted out it out to my surprise and joy, with one simple (but painful) massage and released the tension there.

If you can pinpoint where it is....so you can decide if it is muscular (which can be fixed quite easily usually) or the joint...also I think alot of this depends on how much you are doing and for how long.

I had a fair amount of physio (actually done by an athletic therapist) before surgery (as I am allergic to NSAIDs) and it heed tremendously with the muscle tightness that had built up. I strongly encourage exploring, physio and massage to help with this. In fact, I was just wondering whether to call the massage therapist who takes care of my parents (in nursing home) to see if she would make a home visit to me as by day 10, I have already accumulated a fair amount of muscle tightness and a treatment now might avoid major pain later that is hard to undo.

Thanks for clarifying where the tightness is, mine was running down the thigh at the front it was the main muscle, I did not experience any swollen feeling in the joint ~ does it hurt alot? I would be tempted to have it checked out with the surgeon if it continues.

Nomy scar is fine big but fine😬 I think it's a normal tight full feeling maybe swelling if I over do it. After all they did have the leg turned in ways it normally would not!!!!

Absolutely call your massage therapist. It really helps so much with those rock solid concrete muscles....the quicker the better. It will get tighter if you don't attend to it. You can also do it yourself, or ask another person whilst you wait to try and get some movement into the muscle, otherwise it holds up your walking is my experience.

Also the lovely feeling of release!

I took meds for about 5 weeks only because I was afraid if I stopped it would hurt but it didn't! Cold weather does make my thigh feel funny at times. If I sit at my desk to long I am really stiff to get walking again.
