    Hi Karen great list cool

i have found shoes / trainers with Velcro straps a great help for the first few weeks after op. Just some cheap ones till the swelling goes down 👍

Here's a few more things that come in handy...Long shoe horn, a sox aid, a hard 4 to 6" cushion to put on couch or recliner chair. Also a apron with pockets or a waist bag to keep things you need close by. Also remember to put things you need to get to above your waist at home, now is a good time to remove throw rugs and anything else that you could trip on. Good Luck!

Crocs have been my saviour, just a cheap version, don't worry about the strap, just fold it back over the top of your foot.

Even acceptable in hospital if I remember correctly in Queensland.

Because the crocs have a little dish you cannot slip out of them even when wet.

Wet ones, or baby wipes, mosturisering wipes, some hospitals supply them, a certain hospital, named after a prince, in Chermside (suburb) does supply them, or did earlier in the year, too give your face or under breasts, or any where else you feel sticky a wipe.

Get some nice hyper-allergenic, ones from the chemist, although expensive, well worth having.

Any questions about Qld care, fire away, having been there twice over, I can answer most questions.

How about a amazon kindle to take into hospital, I found my invaluable as I could do e mails, read books and play games when I couldn't sleep

Ooh, check if your ward has wifi. I went in unexpectedly. Emergency dept had wifi so never occurred to me that upstairs might not. The ward didn't have it. You can get some really cheap portable wifi gizmos from coles and woolies now (less than $30). I was without internet the whole time I was in there. I have no idea how I managed before 1994, when I got the internet connected at home...

Hi Marilyn:  I have been looking for an Amazon Kindle that has the apps you mention, but not sure what I should be looking for.  What is yours, please?  I have a laptop, but I think I will not be able to manage that p.ost op or in hospital
