5/6 wks post op - What were you doing? How were you feeling? Back to work?

Hi I'm 5wks post abdominal bikini incision sub total hysterectomy and I know it's a slow recovery and we are all different but I just wondered what everyone was/is doing at this stage, how you were/are feeling and when you all went back to work?

I'm much more mobile and my energy levels have improved but I'm still feeling wiped out if say I've been out in the morning walking or been on my feet at home pottering and doing light duties.

Tummy still sore and swollen above incision and really bloated and swollen in the evening.

My doc note for 6wks runs out Tues and at this rate j can't see myself coping with work even though it's an admin/desk based role.

I've got a boil underneath my incision at the moment too which probably isn't helping me feel that great!

Thanks

Gosh 5 kids! Wow you're a very busy mum! How have you managed with your 1yr old? Hopefully your older ones have helped out😉 Sounds like your recovery has been good apart from your other post about the blood clot and now possible other op for ovary removal which is not good at all....

I feel totally rubbish today and a bit hormonal (probably menstrual cycle related). Tummy really sore 😏

Am going out with my school mummy friends this morning for coffee and cake so that will cheer me up. Need to stay positive too as it could be a lot worse. At least I woke from the op, which I was convinced I wasn't going to....

Are you back at work yet?

It makes a huge difference doesn't it! I'm so lucky to have a brilliant husband who's good at everything round the house including cooking. My 6yr old is very caring too. Thankfully my sister in law and mother in law came to help in the first two weeks too, especially as my boy had chicken pox 2 days before my op😱

Yes it does but us women always have the need to do things not good for recovery

I know! It's hard knowing how much / little to do really especially at our stage as you feel great so get on with things then it seems you do pay for doing too much..,

Hi, i felt ready to go back after 6 weeks but my GP insisted i had another week off so went back to an admin/chair based job after 7 weeks, however this was on a phased return so perhaps this is something you could ask for.
