6 weeks on Sertraline

Hi, I have been on Sert (50mg) for severe depression and so far my anxiety and tension have improved but I am still very depressed. My mood has not improved yet. Does anxiety normally improves first and then mood?

sertraline worked for me for 23 years than pooped out. tried it for 4 weeks but nothing happened. i am on pristiq now. i hit five weeks tomorrow. it takes a long while for most people to recover.

I would definitely give it more time. It seems to take around 12/13 weeks to really start making a difference.

the zoloft support facebook page is wonderful for support and reassurance

Thank you, yes I am there as well. It's just worrying when we hit this 6 weeks mark and we expect to feel much better. Did it take you that long to recover?

i am so glad you are here ALI even though we are on different meds. i did the genesite test and desvenlafaxine was rated good for me. i mostly suffer from severe anxiety. i wish more people on here took 2 or 3 months to recover and could reassure us.

even though we are on different meds its good to hear what others are going through. i expected to be myself a lot quicker.

it took me a lot longer than 6 weeks to feel any real improvement, i would say around the 8-10 week mark

both my GP, and a neighbour who is a retired consultant psychiatrist, inform me that it can take up to 12weeks before full benefit is reached. everyone responds differently to drugs.

if anything my depression eased first, but my predominant problem was anxiety, which has been much slower to resolve.

Thanks for your reply. Did you stay on 50 mg or did you increase? I feels like anxiety has gone down first, but my main issue is severly low mood so anxiety has been related to feeling depressed.
