Hello there guys

Just an update..

First day back at work today even though i got the flu last night and feel like death i have been so positive, fantastic feeling except the flu lol. People have said how outspoken i am now in a good way i was laughing and just being a complete idiot hahahaha. Obviously its starting to work ive been in the office today catching up on a few bits but as i work in the private sector out in the field it was a relife to be in the warmth as i feel dreadful from this flu but amazing at the same time its crazy smile...... 6 weeks ago i couldn't focus i couldn't speak and i couldn't walk anywere without that horrible anxiety in my stomach and just shaking everyday. I have also quit drinking only drank on a saturday afternoon with the football and 2 or 3 after work friday but not touched a drop for 7 weeks so im cutting little things out bit by bit.

Thanks for reading your all superstars lol

      Hi there.

50mg since i started the doctor wants me to stay on this for another 2 to 3 weeks and if im getting even better than she said there will be no point in upping the dose. A friend at work said today that his wife was on these a few years ago and they took 2 to 3 months to start back to being normal so he said just carry on as they worked amazing after 3 months with her and got her life back and she weaned off them over 3 months and has never needed one since. Shes a new person thanks to the sertraline

that's great to hear you are feeling better now and been able to return to work as well, things are looking up for you and i am glad, i remember your first post when you were explaining about you not being able to concentrate or talk etc and gonig out into public was a problem for you also, what a difference a few weeks and the right medication can make, i'm the same with mine, i couldn't rate sertraline enough, it's really helped me out and the relief i get not waking up in the morning with the dreaded blues hanging over me, i have a big smile on my face now and no one is happier about that then me and my boyfriend, it's made our relationship so much better :-) keep the positive thoughts and take care :-)

Thanks for the reply.. Honestly some days i think its the best tablet in the world then some days it feels like its done nothing so i love to think its starting to hit the spot.

yes, that's what it's like to start with, you will be quite up and down start with,  and you will probably have doubts thinking that it's doing nothing for you and you are always going to be like this, you are not always going to be like this, in a few more weeks, your good days will go from few andfar between to more and more regular :-)

    Hi Scott

So happy to hear you're feeling better, long may it continue smile I've been routing around for experiences like yours as I'm just in week 5 and I've yet to really feel an improvement.

Was there a time/dosage when you really noticed a difference? I had bad anxiety this morning walking along a busy main rd and I'm wondering if it's because I've upped to 75mg on Saturday. I wonder if with each increase there's increased anxiety?

Soooo want it to work *everything crossed*!

    Best wishes

      Hi there,

I had a day here and there from week 4 what felt amazing then felt like its not working again then last 2 days have been positive im on 50mgs since i started so not sure about the increase but i have heard it does set you back a little. My doctor has been very sceptical with these tablets basicly she said stay on a dose of 50mgs for 8 weeks to see if that works then after 8 weeks if no improvement up the dose. She told me that many people are told to up there dose after 3 or 4 weeks and in that time it will not work anyway so people have to go through side effects again which in turn sets them back again. Thats why im staying at 8 weeks to see and at the moment i feel positive that there starting to work. A friend of myn told me his wife was on these and they took 2 to 3 months to work and she stayed at 50mgs even though they felt like they wasnt working and then it hit her like wow this feels amazing so stick with it.

Yea I was thinking all that myself...that maybe I'm upping too early. I think it's just because you read about ppl seeing an Improvement within a few weeks.

I rang my gp but spoke to one I'd not seen about this and he was just like "yes, try 100mg then, or go with 50mg one day and 100mg the next if you're wary of increasing"! Which sounds totally wrong to me - too inconsistent. I suppose I've started the 75 now which isnt a huge increase so prob best sticking to that and if I will give it full 8 wks before reviewing. I forget that for my first wk I only took 25mg and by all accounts that does nothing so I'm probably more at the week 4 stage than 5.

Thanks for your response scott smile

      No problem

Yeah 100 one day then 50 the next seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Some doctors havnt got a clue stay on the dose your comfatable with for 8 weeks then increase if not feeling better. Thats what im doing and its starting to work its just set me back with the flu feel so weak and shaky

Just one more thing the feeling of walking down the street and panicking i still have days like that so dont worry it will fade as ive been told it does. I still feel dreamy like state sometimes when im talking to someone too but thats starting to fade so sertraline is good at those things

i agree, i don't think mixing your dose is  very good idea either, do one or the other i'd say :-)

have you found that you're memory has started to come back and you can remember stuff much better?? depression makes your memory really bad, i couldn't remember where i'd put things etc, i used to have a really good memory, but since all this happening to me, it's been shocking, but starting to remember things better now :-)

I've just been reading other threads on here and noticed u said u were on 40mg propranolol...my (good!) gp prescribed me that too when I said I was having a hard time with the increased anxiety from sertraline. Mine are only 10mg tho...do u think that's enough to actually work? I've only taken them before going out so far, so one am one pm - 20mg.

Do they block all physical symptoms of anxiety or specifically just the heart? This sounds weird but I generally dont really get the tight chest/palpitations anyway but do get a whole host of other stuff!

hi 10mg is v.small,i was on 40 x3 daily.it is for the heart

      Hi there..

For me propanalol stopped most pysical symptoms like panic breathing, that horrible feeling in the stomach to a good degree, shaking mostly stopped but still get it when really stressed, heart palpitations. Propanalol works on adrenaline so to speak it will stop or lessen to a degree so you feel more comfortable. 10mgs is really low and may or may not feel much with it, i take 40mgs which is still low but a good stable dose. I have now weaned myself down to 20mgs as i dont feel like i need it now so my sertraline must be working alot. The only reason you have to wean off them is increase in heart pumps when you come off what last for a week or 2 nothing major but might cause panic in some people with a weakend mind. I must admit it does take 1week to get used to it as it may not feel like its working. No side effects just my feet get cold while im in bed but i love that feeling and put them on my mrs legs and shes always boiling lol its like a fire in bed with me some nights bless her lol propanalol is fantastic and if it wasnt for them a few months ago i think id of gone crazy

      Morning smile

Thanks Scott. There are instructions on the outside of the packet suggesting gradual increase but my dr just said take one before 'situations' which I have been. ive been taking them for about 2.5 weeks...think it'd b ok to increase? Thanks

Morning to you too smile im at work feeling dreadfull urrrrgh flu boy lol.

Anyway enough about my man flu haha

Yeah there is no harm i was put onto 40mgs straight away they said you can cut the tablet and have it in 2 periods of the day or take the 40mgs when ever you want so i took it first thing in the morning so it kicks in around 1 hour after when i get to work. I was on 20mgs a few years ago and that didnt really help much still heart was pounding in certain situations but 40mgs stopped all that. Been on 20mgs half a tablet for 1 week now and to be honest i dont need it at all but wean off to 10mgs at the weekend for 3 days then off. That way my heart will get back to normality and wont get the palps

Ahhh, hope the man flu scarpers pronto!! wink

Okey doke, will try increasing over the nxt wk. Thanks Dr Scott!!! Enjoy yr day smile

Hi, yes was a lot better today, thanks for asking smile

I took 2x 10mg propranolol this morning and then only took 1 x 10mg this aft...I did notice I was yawning a lot today?!

I kept myself much busier too, which also helps enormously I find. I know tons about anxiety from my plight to rid myself of it and when I talk about it with my counsellor, rationally, it seems so stupid how worked up I can make myself and I know why each symptom happens re fight or flight and that's it's all just one big false alarm...so its just focusing on that 'in the moment' that's the tricky bit!!!

Are u still going strong with the sertraline? Hope the man flu's shifting a bit smile
