SIXTY-SIX PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS: Part one 1 - 49

These are very real physical changes and conditions. Some symptoms alarm a woman that she may be suffering from a serious disease. Perhaps you know the more common ones related to menopausal symptoms in this list. But many of these may surprise you, as they have not been typically associated with this normal physiological transformation.

1. Change in Menstrual Cycle, Cycles may get closer together or farther apart, lighter and shorter in duration or much heavier, lasting longer than one has been accustomed to. Menses may seem to take forever to begin with dark spotting for days until you actually flow, or you might feel like you have your menses every two weeks.

2. Menstrual Flooding can come on with sudden onset and feel like you may hemorrhage to death. Or it can be a gradual build up just when you think your menses will end and you start gushing for days. Flooding commonly accompanies the woman with uterine fibroids as she transits into menopause.

3. Headaches, Migraines, especially before, during or at the end of your menses debilitate and radically interferes with normal functioning.

4. Decreased Motor Coordination, Clumsiness, almost begins to make the woman who experiences this feel like she is certainly less than graceful during perhaps an already awkward period in her life.

5. Lethargy, a persistent feeling sluggishness physically and mentally, that seems to negate ones ability to do much.

6. Physical Exhaustion , and Crushing Crashing Fatigue that can come on so suddenly and grip you into feeling like you will collapse unless you stop this instant.

7. Exacerbation of any Chronic Illness or Existing Condition transpires as hormones decline or deviate from their normal balance.

8. Insomnia, this includes a new or unusual pattern of either difficulty falling asleep, or dropping off to sleep for a few hours and then awakening with the inability to return to sleep.

9. Sleep Disturbances sometimes are from nightmares, night sweats, or just a vague sense of restlessness keeping you up or disrupting your precious revitalizing retreat from this realm of responsibilities.

10. Night Sweats often begin between a woman?s breasts, initially a night or two before her menses, waking her from sleep, later more profoundly disturbing with up to total body saturation, followed by damp or sweat drenched chills.

11. Interference With Dream Recall interrupts the sense of normal sleep, if you are someone accustomed to vivid or at least some detailed memory of your dreamtime.

12. Muscle Cramps can occur anywhere in the body from legs to back to neck, and sometimes reflects the need for more calcium, or simply that your progesterone levels are too low.

13. Low Backache often worsens before or during menses, but if your hormones remain at low levels, you can experience it on a regular basis.

14. Gall Bladder Symptoms of pain, spasms and discomfort felt in the right upper abdominal quadrant under the ribs, which may be accompanied by belching, bloating, and intolerance to certain foods reflect the increased liver load with declining hormones.

15. Frequent Urination, or sensations that mimic urinary infections is a disturbing symptom often unrelieved by actual urination. It is often experienced as the sensation of needing to urinate all the time, even immediately afterwards.

16. Urinary Incontinence, the uncontrollable and spontaneous loss of urine, or the Urge for Incontinence, can occur suddenly or feel continuous, and not only in response to coughing, sneezing, jumping or running.

17. Hypoglycemic Reactions happen when suddenly your blood sugar crashes and you must have food now.

18. Food Cravings, often for sweets or salty foods, but can include sour or pungent foods.

19. Increased Appetite, especially at night and after dinner contributes to that unusual and unwanted weight gain.

20. Dark Circles Under Eyes can also be caused by adrenal exhaustion and thyroid dysfunctions, but no amount of sleep seems to eliminate it.

21. Joint and Muscle Pain, Achy, Sore Joints, Muscles and Tendons, which sometimes develop into actual carpal tunnel syndrome, or give rise to the questioning of other disease possibilities.

22. Increased Tension in Muscles demonstrates itself in those hunched up shoulders as you work or talk about anything uncomfortable, along with promoting lower back pain and a stiff neck.

23. Increased Hair Loss or Thinning anywhere on body, including your head, armpits, pubic area.

24. Increase in Facial Hair especially under your chin, or along your jaw line. It may be defined by generalized hair growth, or a specific and coarse single strand of hair that pokes out, even curls.

25. Unusually Hair Growth, around Nipples, between Breasts, down your back, places where your hair was finer, less coarse.

26. Acne, quite disturbing to any woman who dealt with this in adolescence and never thought it would recur.

27. Infertility causes grief in the woman who postponed pregnancy in her earlier years and now wishes to conceive, carry to term a healthy baby, and discovers she is unable to do so.

28. Loss of Breast Tissue begins with the decrease of progesterone production. Women often feel as though their breast have become empty sacs devoid of their normal fullness, with or without sagging.

29. Breast Soreness/Tenderness/Pain/ Engorgement and swelling, occurs particularly a few days to one week before bleeding actually begins, which usually potentiates complete relief of any pain or swelling.

30. Painful, or tender nipples have been described as this exquisite localized pain only in the nipples and suggests estrogen excess.

31. Cold Extremities feels quite strange especially in the presence of a hot flash, the combination of which is not impossible.

32. Being Accident Prone, bumping into things, not even realizing it until the bruise reveals itself later and then lacking the ability to recall the causative incident feels perplexing and a little scary at the prospect of something more damaging.

33. Hot flashes initially may be described as mild to severe flushes of heat waves, and for some women these evolve into intense outbreaks of sudden heat with sweating and turning bright red all over.

34. Loss of Sexual Energy, our Libido, can be marked by a gradual or sudden disinterest in sex, to the development of an actual aversion.

35. Painful Sex often described as if one?s vagina would tear open at the point of penetration along with feelings of abrasion during intercourse.

36. Vaginal Dryness, Irritation, sometimes accompanied by a consistent unusual discharge - typically odor free, negates a woman?s ability to be sexually active, or able to enjoy or be comfortable in her body.

37. Dizziness, feeling lightheaded and the loss of physical balance, and even a bit wobbling at times, requires pause in movement to prevent falling over or deepening into vertigo or feeling faint.

38. Ringing in the Ears, Tinnitus, can be experienced as a pulsing sensation, a whooshing sound, an almost musical or buzzing sound with a fuzzy sensation.

39. Abdominal Bloating comes on suddenly often after eating, or seems to be all the time, and can be visibly evident making you feel that you look like you are pregnant.

40. Weight Gain disturbs most women, particularly when it seems to happen over a couple of days, settles in the waist, buttocks and thighs, promoting a visceral thickening from the waist down, the classic middle-aged figure.

41. Fluid Retention, Edema, commonly with swelling in the legs and ankles, though not limited to this area and it is unrelieved by urination.

42. Palpitations or Heart Racing usually comes on suddenly, without warning or provocation, and dissipates spontaneously. The experience can be so wild and intense that a woman may become alarmed and wonder if she is having a heart attack.

43. Irregularities in your Heart Rate may feel more like your heart has just done a flip-flop or skipped a beat.

44. Constipation/Diarrhea, intermittent or alternating, results from declining hormone levels, which increase the demands on liver function and alters intestinal motility.

45. Tendency towards Candidiasis can increase, even if you have no prior known history ? and if you do, it may worsen.

46. Gastrointestinal Distress, Increased Flatulence, Unrelieved Gas pains, Indigestion, Nausea all can reflect intestinal changes due to hormonal imbalances.

47. Slow Digestion often goes along with the bloat ? what previously took four to five hours to digest, now seems to take all night. It seems worse in the evenings.

48. Lack of Appetite may be experienced as more of a lack of interest in food, going to the frig and standing there with the door open and staring blankly. Feeling completely uninspired, you busy yourself with something else and forget that you need to eat.

49. Changes in Body Odor especially disturbing when it seems to focus in the groin area, but can be anywhere on the body.

50. Puffy Eyes, not only from sleep disturbances, but also can accompany low progesterone.

51. Facial Pallor alternating with Facial Flushes is often intermittent with hot flashes.

52. Flare up of Arthritis worsens with low progesterone levels and increase sugar intake.

53. Loss of Bone Density, Osteoporosis, is not only an elderly woman?s disease, though it seems to develop over an extended period and is triggered by the decline of hormone production.

54. Dry Hair, Change in Skin Tone, Integrity, and Texture, becomes more wrinkled, and may begin the thinning process.

55. Changes in your Fingernails characterized by easy breakage, bending, cracking and getting softer.

56. Itchy, Crawly Skin with a strange sensation like insects crawling around under the skin ? quite different than the dry skin feeling.

57. Muscle tone seems to slack and sag, and loose its previous response to normal exercise.

58. Pelvic Pain can be random and independent of cycles and may feel continuous for some women.

59. Dry, Itchy Eyes felt in the deep posterior aspect of the eye socket, as well as superficially.

60. Teeth Aching or the experience of a strange sensation in one?s teeth or gums, often accompanied by an increase in bleeding gums.

61. Change in the normal Tongue sensation, which can be accompanied by a feeling of burning in your tongue and roof of mouth, malodorous breath or change in breath odor, and/or a bad taste in your mouth.

62. Memory Loss or Lapses in time, makes one feel disoriented and less focused, especially when you go into another room to get something specific and seconds later cannot remember what you went to retrieve.

63. Feeling Faint for no known reason (this does not include standing up too quickly)

64. Tingling in Extremities not only feels weird and like your hands or feet are falling asleep, but if persistent can be a symptom of diabetes, B12, potassium or calcium deficiency, or a compromise in blood vessel flexibility.

65. Sensation of Electrical Stimulation,or Shock occurring in the tissue under the skin, and may signal you that a hot flash will begin.

66. Increase and worsening of Allergies occurs as hormones become imbalanced, so can our immune system.

Thank you so much for all your posts, ladies! I have been lucky to stumble upon this thread at a time when I truly believed I was going nuts! Mind if I join you?

I am 50 and have been peri menopausal for a few years. Initially I was managing my symptoms and feeling pretty ok: I am an acupuncturist myself, so had acupuncture with a colleague now and then; I took some supplements (but skipped often); made sure I exercised and ate plenty of veg....

Over the last 2 years however, I have been exposed to a great amount of stress, culminating in some major issues last Autumn (now resolved luckily).

My body took a knock, however, and from December I have been suffering from left breast pains radiating into my left arm and up into the left side of my neck and down into lower left ribcage /fatigue /on and off digestive issues /anxiety with palpitations /increasing frequency of hot flushes...

Mammogram and breast ultrasound showed small cysts where the pains are and some dense glandular tissue. This didn't explain why I have the other pains though, and I have had some other theories bandied about. Possible glandular fever and/or post viral fatigue was ruled out by blood tests. Possible pleuracy was ruled out by chest Xray. I had one evening when my heart rate went up to 130 whilst sitting on the sofa (I wasn't even panicking at that time) and I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. My poor husband rang the ambulance and they were here quickly. The heart rate settled and I was shaking massively from all the adrenaline - all signs of a typical panick attack. People who have known me throughout my life, would probably not believe this would ever happen to me, as it really isn't me at all. Because of the left sided pains in chest and arms, the paramedics felt I should be checked out in A&E, so I spent a long Friday night on a trolley in a corridor only to be told that all was fine (bloodtests and ECG). Getting appointments has been a nightmare at this time of year, especially when you are seen as a bit of a hypochondriac. I agree with you all that that seems to be the overall impression I get from the medical profession. I still have an outstanding upper abdo scan and a GP appointment, but they are only at the end of March - that was the earliest possible for non-urgent cases!

Unfortunately having some training in spotting red flags causes plenty of extra worry and overthinking. Even though my training says it most likely isn't the case, I have been convinced over the last month's that I had breastcancer, glandular fever, post viral fatigue, lymphoma, leukaemia...

I am getting a bit better though. The fatigue is less pronounced and the pain less debilitating. I have been taking regular Epsom salt baths and using the magnesium spray, am taking a menopause supplement and extra VitB6, B12, Allicin, evening primrose oil and Curcudyn (a turmeric supplement). I am also meditating about every 2/3 days, have been having acupuncture a bit more regularly and have cut out alcohol and caffeine. I am just about managing keeping up with work and family, but long for my confident, strong and healthy self to return.

Reading the messages here has giving me comfort during those long nights when lying awake - it has shown me that I am not on my own with weird symptoms and that I can attribute them to the awful peri, rather then some worse case scenarios that have gone through my head!

      Hi Nadia,

      Welcome!

You are definitely not alone! I so can relate! This is a wonderful group of women on here that is supportive, caring and empathetic.  I am so glad I found this forums.

I never thought of Epsom salt baths. I will have to try that. I also cut out caffeine and alcohol. I have not only had a spike in pulse but out of nowhere spikes in my bp, and I even take bp meds. I don't feel any different to warrant the increase but I am learning it is hormone related and to try not to obsessively take my bp. It goes back down, but I don't like the out of control the way my body makes me feel.

I  hoping you find continued success with your regimen and wish you health and normalcy.

Hi Nadia, welcome. I am sure that the ladies will welcome you with open arms just as they did to me about a month ago. This forum is an invaluable caring and sharing platform where we all support eachother with as much information and love as we can. I hope that over the coming days, weeks and months that we can all help one another. You are not alone in your symptoms or your suffering so keep in regular contact and see just how much we can and will support you. XXX

Thanks Tina and Keljo, the support is appreciated. And reading about all the possible symptoms other ladies are experiencing has made me feel a lot calmer in lots of ways! I definitely had started to doubt whether it was all in my head. Turns out it isn't. I am just flabbergasted that there isn't more information out there! And I am as guilty as many other practitioners, in that I thought that it was mainly hot flashes, lack of sleep and mood swings. Lesson learnt!

Epsom bath salts don't just make for a relaxing bath, but you also absorb the magnesium through your skin, so actually more effective then taking a supplement. And because I also brush my legs and arms with a rough brush, it has the added benefit that my skin is smooth like a baby's bottom now :-)

Hi Nadia, thank you for your post too. This is my first time here and I can so relate to you, so much so that I'm crying just reading this. Knowing I'm not alone and not crazy is a huge relief.

      Hi Kimberly

You are certainly not alone. I am having a renewed dip at the monent: currently lying awake after a bad night time sweat, unable to go back asleep. My glands are very painful again and the fatigue is back, so I think I will need to get that checked out. I dread having to ring the GP though: the way they question you to see whether you "deserve" an emergency appointment. I have a non emergent appointment booked in, but that is still nearly 4 weeks away....

      Hi Maria

Thanks for asking. Managed to get to the doctor and asked for a private referral for an abdominal and neck ultrasound. Didn't fancy waiting another 5 weeks! I could go the day after I rang them! She did some thorough measurements and all is looking fine. Actually pretty good she said, as there's no nodules at all on my thyroid and glands look normal.

The doctor also mentioned that peri symptoms tend to get worse during the time when you would normally be in the build up towards a period, as your body is struggling. I definitely feel worse at the moment, so she might be right. I have even had period pains (used to have severe pains, as I have endometriosis), but nothing is happening.

It's made me realise I will need to be a bit more pro active, as I can't cope with living like this for what could be years. I have another appointment at the end of the month with the GP to see what the NHS can offer regarding HRT. But I have also made an appointment with Professor John Studd on 1st May, as I have read about his HRT regime and like the sound of it.

I'm glad you doing better! You are right, I do for my period any day now and my symptoms are more severe! My shoulders, back and chest bone aching so much the past few days I feel like I am 90 years old!!! My daughter said the same thing today " you need to do something mom, you can't go on like this" but I'm not sure what to do!!!! I'm so tired worrying constantly no energy left for anything!!! Keep in touch let me know how things go ...xxxxx

    • Posted

The pains are so worrying, aren't they. I can't help but think "surely this cannot be only down to peri"? And then the mind starts imagining...

Over the last days I have also started tinnitus. Oh the joy... an extra thing to cope with.

I will let you know what solutions the doctors can give in the hope it might help you as well. Just a shame it's always such a long wait to see anyone.

I understand what you say about having the energy to do something. I have only just got enough energy to keep work and family going. And I have been taking supplements and been working on my lifestyle for months now, but nothing helps. I am worrying as well as my son is coming home from uni next week. My daughter is still at home and very understanding, but his empathy levels aren't that great.

    • Posted

It's funny, my son is the same way! He was here visiting with me for a week from school and every time i would mention i didn't feel good, he would roll his eyes and say that is all in my head!!

my husband is so busy and stressed with work i hardly talk to him, so pretty much leaves me dealing with all this craziness alonesad

I should be getting my period any day now and i'm so emotional (  crying while I'm writing to you) my anxiety is through the roof today, my body feels shaky and my BP is all over the place!!

Do you worry a lot about your children? i'm so worried if they don't answer the phone if there in the car and driving back home, not to get sick or hurt!! I'm so tired.... i do take supplements and eat well i don't drink coffee, alcohol or sugars but there is time that nothing works!!

us moving away for the past 4 years doesn't help either since i don't know any one in this area that i can hang out with and keep my mind occupied!

      Thank you for listening againconfused

      Hi maria,

So sorry that your not feeling well I'm in perimenapause and I've been having teeth pain on one side then the other it comes and goes it's crazy then the fatigue and dizzy I feel so strange it's like I'm in a bubble and every one else is out side then muscle pain in legs and arms that comes and goes How long do we suffer with this .

    • Edited

Hang on in there Maria. I am now a few days past the stage where my period would have started (it never did, but I would have been due and even had cramping but no bleed, so it shows my system was struggling) and although I still have pains, hot flashes and tinnitus, the symptoms are definitely more manageable. I can now see a pattern where I am bad for 2 and a half weeks (around the time where I would have been premenstrual and on a period) and then get a bit of relief.

I have had a good day. Managed to do some gardening, cooked a meal, did some work for my clinic and did my athletics coaching without having to drag myself around and burst out into tears.

    • Posted

Maria - What I wanted to say before posting: you should hopefully feel at least a little bit better once this stage in your cycle is past. Once you do, take advantage of it to look into some self help.

I already do a lot: supplements, meditation, rest alternated with healthy activity when strong enough, diet.... but it obviously isn't enough anymore for those worse times of the month. That's why I think it is time to look into certain forms of HRT (body identical). I can't afford to feel that rubbish for 2-3 weeks of the month if I want to keep my work and family going.

    • Edited

I'm the same way I feel bad for about 21/2 weeks and the rest of the month some good days, energized and doing things and all over again!

I have stopped walking for about 6 weeks do to me helping my husband at work and cold weather and I can see i start getting really anxious again!! So I'm starting again tomorrow😊

I was so scared i thought i had something horrible happening! I could be driving and I just wanted to pull over and go to sleep. That lasted for a sort time in the beginning. Have your thyroid checked, make sure is not that. Did you start with the itching skin yet? Omg that was awful!!! Do you start feeling anxious yet?

Yes. I think that's the worst! The overwhelming feeling , afraid of every situation! Afraid of travelling anymore in case some catastrophe will happen! Watching a simple movie and if there is a character that is suffering of some illness, by the end of the movie i got it!! If it's a serial killer loose in Alaska i will call my kids to warn them in case they run into him in FL! My little grand daughter is constipated and I'm going to a full panic attack thinking she can't poop!!

You know what have helped me besides this website, reading. I read every chance I get, i read at night when I can't sleep. It helps me! I go through at least 7 books a week!! I use to be so much fun, I don't want to look in the mirror anymore...I look so tired!! One good thing, I'm not hungry anymore like i used to be so I start loosing some of the 16 pounds i put on!

Ah yes Maria- same for me, I feel okay For I would say two weeks out of the month or so, and the rest pretty crummy… And I also stopped walking  due to the ridiculous amounts of snow and cold we’ve had here. I plan to start back up soon because it really does help. Hang in there and keep us posted!👍😊

      Hi maria,

Did you ever get really bad muscle pain lower back legs ,I've been having such sore muscle apart from been tired all the time and brain fog

    • Posted

Hi Maria- I just recently started “tracking” my symptoms...by that I try to remember if  i’ve had a symptom, and when in the month it was… For example I get very bloated just before my period ..And I wouldn’t say that I have an increased pulse BUT I do feel an increase in pressure but not blood pressure..it’s a weird feeling like I get a bit warm and it feels like my hands, face and feet have a little extra pressure on them..but my actual blood pressure is normal..I hate the feeling! I did use a Fitbit to track my heart rate and never noticed an increase like you’re mentioning but I became too obsessed with checking so I put it away for a bit 😕 let me know what the Dr says..and reach out whenever you need me! 😊

    • Posted

      Yes Jackie.

I have that for the past 8 years , one symptom that d doesnt go away! Try to take hot bath and I usually take couple of Advil.

    • Posted

Thats what I use and I'm obsessed on taking my pulse every few minutes sometimes. I think I will delete because I don't think is helping me.

I did mentioned it to the Dr the last time and he said it's very common when you in perimenopause.

      Thank you so much !

    • Posted

Oh my gosh!  This is so me!!  I get so anxious and paranoid about my heart!  I become an obsessive pulse taker!  Several times on the treadmill.  I’m so thankful for this forum because it lets me know I’m really not crazy and peri can give us crazy symptoms.

      Hi maria

I had that I also had it in my phone and I was like you taking my pulse every time I deleted it it it related to perimenapause.

My stomach started hurting again feels weird also my gallbladder it's another symptom of perimenapause it's on the 66 symptoms

    • Posted

Oh ok so it is common with perimenopause...ugh..just another thing to add to the list right?? I had NO idea there were so many symptoms and hat this could impact your life so much 😕I wish I had known before I started graduate school..it’s been hell with the additional work and demands..I’m beyond exhausted and not done yet!😥 I am honestly not sure I can finish...it’s so much stress and work and not to mention money ..anyway, hang in there, we will all get through this nonsense!😘

    • Posted

Your pulse was all over the place also Jackie? I'm freaking out everytime it happens but I did notice i get it right before my period and I go back to normal..

Next time I'm on the east coast we should get together😊

I talked to him about the fast heart beat he told me i had stress test and all of kinds of tests little over a year ago and he doesn't think that is my heart he suggested to start exersicing not just walking!!! He said walking is for 90 year olds!! I told him that's how I feel! My upper body like you is aching so bad today!!!! My period suppose to be here yesterday but nothing yet!!!

Hi- my doctor put me on lexapro and i couldn’t continue..I started at 10 mg, which he said was a low dose, and it made me sooooooo sick! I was dizzy and nauseous to the point I couldn’t get off the couch..plus I had these awful heart shocks or zaps practically all day and it was awful..I stayed on for almost 3 weeks and he said to lower it to 5mg..it didn’t help with the physical symptoms and it didn’t do anything for anxiety, in fact made it worse because of the heart zaps...All I wanted to do was sleep and not talk to anyone or do anything...I had the stomach issues for weeks after stopping it too..I wish it would have helped and it does help many , so I’m not trying to discourage you, I am just letting you know my experience..I wanted something to help but this wasn’t helpful...staying hydrated and walking helped but I’ve been slacking in that area..take care and let me know how you are doing 😊

That's what I thought!! He give me also 10mg to start, but I'm not taking It! I don't like to take medications even vitamins I'm not happy to take but I do..I start taking magnesium its been a week but I didn't notice any difference yet!

You are right walking does help i stopped for 3 weeks and I'm feeling so bad again! I just want this anxiety to go away!

Yes, now I’m starting to see why people “of a certain age” like us, lol, takebup yoga or running and things like that... i’m not prepared to go that crazy LOL but I see your physical activity does certainly help. I just wish I had the energy in some more time to do so but I’m trying to walk when I can come at the snow ever goes away. I also do not want to start taking any type of medications at all either..I take Advil for the aches and pains and an allergy pill plus some B vitamins, I’d like to stay off prescriptions as long as possible. Hang in there and let me know how you’re feeling. I’m always here! Stay in touch 😊

You are right😊 Its beautiful today so I took a half hour walk. It felt good.

My upper back is killing me today..I can't explain it how it feels, like each little muscle is so tight and when you stress it aches!!! And it goes all around my rib cage and breast bone!! I just took Advil , that's the only thing I take for the pain also..my period suppose to come 2 days ago but nothing yet!

Where do you live? I'm in South Florida.

      Keep in touch.😚😚

      Hi maria,

I'm so tired of this fatigue and brain fog my endocrinologist called me this morning she said my hormones are at normal range my saliva cortisol also came back normal, she now wants me to have a cortisol blood test done I'm not sure what she did not do them both

They just like to run the bill i think!!

Everything is fine, is the crazy hormones doing all these crazy stuff to us!!

I think the more we get stressed over it the worst it gets!!

I couldn’t agree more!  I have told myself that I can keep going to the doctor for every funky thing I feel, but in my state that of mind, I’ll never be placated.  I’ve gotten so irrational about fears about my heart that I told my therapist that I have been at the place where a doctor could pull out my beating heart and blow bubbles through the arteries and I would still not believe it was ok!!  And by the way, a therapist helps A LOT!  He taught me about mindful meditation which has helped beyond measure.  I think that WE believe the anxiety comes from health issues, but I seriously believe it’s the other way around.

Hi Maria, part of the battle is to recognise when you have a problem that you can no longer cope with alone. So many people dont want to face up to that fact but you do. Talk to your dr and see if they will refer you to a mental health specialist. Its also worth seeing an endocrine specialist to see which hormones are still out of sync and causing you so much misery. Help is out there if you know where to look for it but your first stop needs to be your dr and from the sound of you asap. Love and big hugs. XXX

I waited way too long to ask for help.  But better late than never!  It saved me!  Talking to my doctor (who knew I didn’t want to take any drugs) and going to see a therapist was the turning point for me.
