It's still very early days so I wouldn't worry too much. I'm 5 weeks and wouldn't want to think about it yet!
See what your consultant says at your check up, if they put your mind at rest you will feel more relaxed and that will help. I think I waited until about 8 weeks after my first op.

I used Vagifem for over a year to "plump things up" before surgery, I'm sure this has helped. I don't know whether I will need to use it again - another question for the consultant I think.

Margaret as Imnotadoctor said five weeks is pretty early days. My consultant told me at five weeks it was ok but I can’t even sit on a chair yet. Sutures are dissolving now. I would rather wait a bit longer. Full healing takes months but initially six weeks and then 12 weeks are healing milestones.
Take it easy , be kind to yourself. When you next try use loads of lubrication gel such as ky. don’t worry about your consultation it will be good for you to discuss these points.
I would imagine if will take ya all a fair while to feel relaxed enough for intimacy to go smoothly.
Hope things settle for you very soon 😊

Margaret after my surgery my consultant told me that I had pretty bad atrophy so my next job is to massage oestrogen cream around the area externally daily and when sutures are healed to commence internal dosing of cream daily for four weeks. Perhaps you have s similar problem as this will affect the elasticity of our delicate membranes and tissues.
Before I was menopausal I had no awareness of any problems. Four years in and I fell apart! Good luck. I’m sure your consultant will be able to advise 😊

Five weeks really is very early, my consultant told me twelve weeks, I thought she was joking, she wasn't! I had more surgery but I'm now seven months post op and sex is still painful. ??

Owe that’s awful, have you asked why it is still so painful, just shows you never 2 cases the same, a friend of mine had 3 ops in 1 go , and was back to normal sex life 6 weeks post op 😳 , hope it gets easier for you soon , it must bring you down x

Hi Margaret. I had an anterior and posterior repair plus a vaginal hysterectomy and sacrospinous fixation, quite a package!
At about twelve weeks it was 'so tight' penetration was almost impossible, that was from the posterior repair, I think. My consultant said all was fine but ..... ouch.
I saw my GP about a month ago and possibly have granulation deep inside, at the vaginal vault. I have another appointment on January 2nd, I too was prescribed Vagifem (now unavailable in the UK, so have Ovestin), I think this is helping the healing. ??
We are indeed all different, my initial recovery was fantastic and if I didn't want sex I might not know about the deep internal problem!

Yes, I've heard of others, my pharmacy told me it was no longer being produced. I'm in Northampton. Xx

Hi, I am in Berkshire and my pharmacy haven't be able to fulfill my latest prescription for Vagifem for last 2 weeks. They can't get supplies. I don't know if this is short term or long term issue but concerned as don't know if there is an alternative available apart from Estriol cream which although effective is very messy.

I'm in the south west & my Vagifem was ready for collection this week so it is out there. Obviously being 6 weeks post op I can't use it yet in fact my consultant said it may not be necessary but I see her next week so will ask then. I already take HRT tablets daily so she feels to use both may be too much. Maybe it's different health authorities?
