8 days post op

Hi I'm new here I had a posterior/anterior and vaginal vault prolapse repair and sacro spinous fixation 8 days ago and oh my goodness I wasn't expecting it to be this sore :-( one of the nurses at the hospital tutted when I said how sore I was and said it couldn't possibly be that painful which has made me worry that I'm over reacting :-(

Has anyone had the sacro spinous fixation??? I have got the most intense and burning pain in my right buttock and wondered if this was normal??

I know I mustn't expect too much too soon but I suppose I'm worrying because of what the nurse said and a couple of family members are making quite light of the situation and making comments about me being back to doing stuff around the house and right now that's the last thing I'm up to.

Thank you in advance for listening

    Hi All,

    My update:

Sacrospinous hysteropexy sutures removed at 4 weeks, persistent pain getting worse in buttock, hip, some in leg, can't sit at all. I was just diagnosed with pudental neuralgia by one specialist during manual exam and I had a positive pudental nerve block two days ago. I am in agony, can't do anything and shaking from pain. I take oxy, gabapentin, baclofen, started Cymbalta today because I have suicidal thoughts.

I have two small kids and a life and I don't know what to do...

Just found this forum and I am relieved to know that I am not alone in having so much intense pain. I am 12 day’s post op having had a sacral spinous fixation, rectocele repair and an enterocoele repair. I also have fibromyalgia and am hypermobile. The pain in my right buttock has been so intense I have been shaking and crying. One thing that has helped has been voltarol suppositories 50mg. I just wanted to share that info with anyone going through this hell in the hope it might help them. Roll on 2018! 😢

Hi,new to this forum but felt  so relived that I wasn’t going mad.Had hysterectomy and sacrospinous fixation 5 days ago, and the pain in my right buttock and underneath is so bad makes me feel sick when I have to get moving to go to the loo.My Lower back pain from compensating for this is nearly as bad. Constipation is dire, taking lactose twice daily but still taking a long time to work. Came home with catheter aß couldn’t pee, have to go back next week to get it removed. Dreading the journey as it’s an hour to the hospital.

Really am wondering whether should have just kept withe the pessary, and having it changed every 6 months

Oh I am so pleased to have found this site. I really thought I was going mad with the pain and discomfort. I am 8 days from having a rectal prolapse repair and sacrospinous stitch. The op was done by spinal block - brilliant - but the pain in my right buttock and the agony of bowel movements is awful. I find it can take five minutes sometime to even pass urine and the dragging sensation is dreadful. I try to apply pressure underneath which helps a bit but oh dear it makes you feel such a baby. I feel for all you ladies and have taken a bit of heart that I am not ab normal and hopefully the pain will ease. Good Luck ladies please tell me it will all be worth it.

Well I’m hopeing it will all be worth it.but right now I’m wondering. I think consultants need to tell you just how Bad the pain can be.In hospital I was on paracetamol, codiene and morphine at night..... left hospital with no meds! All they said was take what you usually have for pain relief!

Had to ring my dr because paracetamol were useless on their own. He prescribed co codomol, which makes youconstipated😩Having been a regular going person it was terrible, laculose is very mild and takes 4 days to work, took two senna last night and bingo👍My god the pain was so bad, thought I was going faint.

Anyway day 7 ,pain is less, and I’m feeling slightly more like my old self. Keep positive all you ladies, and keep talking......it helps.

Oh hubby brought me a heat blanket to sit on.Fabulous-get one.

    Hi all.

I had a Having hysterectomy + posterior anterior wall repair + sacral spinous fixation 6 weeks ago. Since then a haven't been able to wee without self Catheterisation. I've had CT scan, ultrasound and even another operation to see why this is happening.  They have told me that I'm still swollen and to keep Catheterisation.

I'm still in a lot of pain and can't walk very far or sit for to long.

Is there anyone with the same problem as me.

I hope that by now you are fully recovered. I am considering this operation - sacrospinous fixation and anterior repair and would like to know how long it took before you felt comfortable.

    Thank you

    Hi

Firstly these repairs should not be taken lightly.. all what yiu are feeling is completely6 normal and are very very uncomfortable.

Yiu should be resting up fir at least 6 weeks with no lifting, bending or any housework.

Take gentle walks each hour round the house and build up gradually.

After 2xweeks you can start light duties, but no lifting,or bending.

I had a tvh and anterior repair last January and rest if the key. Yiu get one chance if a recov9 but many more chances to be active at home. If you find your family are not supporting you and think you should be doing more telling to take a look at this forum lol hopefully they will realise that these repairs are major surgery and yiu have had 3 in one op.

    Good luck
