I get very tired and have now given in to it. I try not to do more than one major thing a day and just give up in the evening. It does mean I really have to plan my life and also turn things down which I would have jumped at before PMR.

I did have sensitive teeth and used Sensodyne recommended by the pharmacist who seems pretty knowledgable about pred, but I seem to be OK now.

The extreme fatigue is extremely depressing.  Yes, I hear you about turning things down when before you would up and go.  I'm very much into exercising and I can't do it as I did before .  I can't see this lasting for years.

I do use sensory me but in the morning the toothache is back however after taking the prednisone it is less.

Could you have an infection causing inflammation around your tooth - surely the pred would only help if if were inflammed?

That would explain why the toothache gets worse when the steroids effect start to run out just before taking the next dose.

I have been taking Prednisolone for about 18 months  for PMR. and was down to 5mg when i have a horrible flare-up. Have gone up to 10mg, and  feel a bit better although I still have shoulder and neck pain. I had to get out of bed this morning as my legs were very painful, and have dreadful fatigue.

I would be greatful if anyone else had had these problems, especially the fatigue.

All of us pretty well have been there at some point.

I had a terrible flare about 3 years ago because the form of pred I was switched to when I moved here to Italy simply didn't work for me. It gave me delighful side effects (a beard, muscle wasting, massive weight gain etc) but not the antiinflammatory effect.

I have had PMR for over 10 years, 5 of them without pred. After that awful flare and being put on another sort of prednisone I have reduced  from 15mg using the reduction scheme in the replies part of this thread:

I am at 4mg now for the first time in over 5 years. It does work - a lot of other people have tried it too as well as another version that is quite similar. However, if the 10mg doesn't work within a week I would say go higher. You cannot reduce the dose until ALL the existing inflammation has been cleaned out and that may need more pred.

I would also suggest you try to find a Bowen therapist - I used it for the first 5 years and it kept me pretty much mobile and in not too much pain despite no pred at all. It is also very helpful for more stubborn bits of pain which I call "Add ons" - not directly PMR but very often found along with PMR.
