Hi Folks

im thinking of seeing a specialist having avoided the prospect for ages , can anyone give me any encouragement in terms of the treatment you've received and did it help any ? I don't have much confidence in all honesty and don't want probing n poking about if there's no point .

Any feedback gratefully received

Hey Kay, Don't know what kind of specialist you are going to see but assume it is a gynecologist. I suffer from vaginal atrophy due to my age, 71, hysterectomy,  and chemo and medications. Anyway, since I cannot use any cream that contains estrogen my doctor suggested I try the Mona Lisa Touch. I have had one treatment and am due to have my second treatment, Dec.6.  I have experienced fewer problems after the first treatment so am hoping to feel even better after the second treatment.

I will keep you posted. Hope you find this info useful.

      Hi Linda

Thankyou for the info I hope you progress well . I am considering the Mona Lisa op or the new Diva one as I can't put up with this pain and suffering any longer . A lady on here recommended Ovestin and sea buckthorn oil and vit e cream I'm going to try this as a last resort and if it's not working I'll seriously consider the op .

Take care , hope you benefit from your treatment

    Hi Kay,

I have been having problems for over a year now. Was using Vagifem tablets that you insert vaginally and was great for about a year. Over the last year have had itching and irritation all over vulva and even between buttocks. Not even sure if that part is related to atrophy. Anyway now I'm trying the Mona Lisa Touch laser. I have had 1 treatment, you usually need 3, sometimes more. Supposed to rejuvenate vaginal tissue and after treatment many people don't need to use any HRT therapy. Praying it works because I have been miserable.

I think it's worth talking to a Dr. about. There are treatments out there.

What type of symptoms are you having if you don't mind me asking?

I hope you find help and relief soon.

      Hi Christa

firstly , commiserations it really is the most relentless miserable condition isn't it ?

My symptoms are as follows , itching burning fragile and tender skin both internally and externally , swelling and inflammation . I get flare ups when it's so bad I can't sit down comfortably . Painful sex and now impossible and I get the rash around inside buttocks too . I did contact a specialist who would do the Mona Lisa procedure but I enquired wether it's a permanent cure and was told no so it put me off spending £2,500 . I hope it works for you I'll be interested to know how you progress, I believe there's a newer procedure called Diva don't know the details though .

      Good luck

Hi Kay, I had my second MLT treatment on Wednesday. They apply a numbing cream before so I did not experience any pain during the process but I had a rough night. Before my third treatment, I plan on asking for a prescription for pain meds, at least for the first night. I do think it is helping as I have experienced less burning and itching.

As far as probing and poking, I have no modesty left so this is not a problem. After having ovarian cancer and a complete hysterectomy, what else can they do. The good news is there isn't that much probing and poking going on anyway.

Bottom line. I paid $2400.00 for three treatments and so far, I consider it money well spent.

    Hope this helps you.

      Hi Linda

Thankyou I'm still considering my options as doc has me trying Fluconozole and Ovestin cream internally if that fails I need to take action I cannot go on like this .

      Hope you progress well
