Acid Reflux and Inflammed Esophagus?

Hello, I started experiencing esophagus problems all of a sudden about two months ago. It started one evening right after I finished supper, I felt like I had a lump of food stuck in my esophagus, rignt between my breast. It did not hurt, just felt like a lump of food just sitting there. I drank a lot of water and walked around the yard trying to get the food (?) to go down. After about an hour, it seemed to be ok. This continued to happen to me every evening after eating, but the symptom started lasting longer. At that time it was just my evening meals, then as the weeks moved forward it started happening with all meals, just worse in the evening. I made an appointment with my Gastroenterologist, who I use to see ten years ago for acid reflux. He scheduled an endoscopy, and the results showed no stricture, and no cancer. He said my esophagus was a little red and inflamed and prescribed me rabeprazole sodium at 40 mg daily. This seemed to make the stuck food feeling go away but caused me really horrible insomnia and constipation, so I had to stop taking it. I now take Nexium at 20 mg twice a day, but it is not helping at all. I am having a hard time believing this symptom has anything to do with acid reflux, as I have not had any acid reflux symptoms, or issues in years. There are no symptoms at all, no heart burn, nothing. Does anyone else have symptoms like this? Could it be anything else? Thanks.

You need to go on a diet. Your muscles have grown a certain way and need to be destroyed before you can go about eating proteins to keep them strong and build them. So a fruits and berries diet with white rice for 30days and then. After that ease your way into other foods. Stay away from red meats these are filled with toxins and cause blockage all throughout your body that can eventually pollute and poison you and your blood stream. I'm %100 serious about this. It's your cure! Stay away from dairy. Drink lots of water and a glass or two of cranberry juice a day. Once you get your stomach back to normal try getting on a healthier diet and do a little bit of stretching and exercise each day to keep your digestive track in a good functioning condition. Stay strong and be blessed.

Yes me Raellen but haven't any idea what is causing it. Doc gave me Omeprazole but doesn't do much. Even a drink feels like it's got stuck in a lump. I'm such a baby and turned down the offer of a camera down. Guess it's the unknown and been told awful stories. Trying to keep off the worst things that cause it but it's getting worse. Good luck hope it gets better for you and u find something that u can take that stops it happening.

I'm getting a constant golf ball feeling either in the throat and sometimes around the centre of my chest/back.

Everytime I eat or drink water I feel like it quickly comes back up or doesnt fully go through the oesophagus and then I immediately need to burp.

I have had some burning sensation around the chest too, almost feels like a sizzling and prevents me from sleeping. I had some back pain before too but that has passed.

I am freaking out majorly and am trying my best to see a Gastroentoroligist ASAP but it will be hard.

Yes I've had both symptoms for a while, but not yet been checked out (both food getting stuck and a burning feeling)

Yes me too.  It is acid reflux.  Hate the foods feeling that gets stuck beween the breast and burns.  Try Mastic Gum along with Zantac, that has  helped me loads.

This might sound really strange but u could be stressed out and might need to try something for anxiety. I went threw this once 10 years ago and tried xanax it worked but didn't like the feeling. It started again 1 week ago and did the same today I feel great! Hope u feel better

Hi I am suffering with the feeling of something stuck in chest area and back ache in the same area. Was this similar to what you experienced?

Hi - I'm having similar symptoms in that I can feel the food kind of stuck, and also getting pain in my back at about the same point, if you see what I mean.  I've been put on omeprazole and changed my diet but it doesn't seem to have much of an effect so far (6 weeks in total).  Like you, I don't get the heartburn, but I think you can have acid reflux without it from what I've read.

Yes you can have no hearturn but have silent reflux (LPR).  Sounds like your esophagus is inflamed.  Mine flares up with that feeling you describe and pain in the back.  It has stopped me eating out as the last time I eat out a small piece of salmon stuck right there and I had to go to the loo to bring it up which made a right old mess of my lipstick.  I went in looking glamorous and came out with hair all over and lipstick smudged.  So we left the restaurant and went home.

Don't want to chance it again so now turn down invites of meals out with friends.

It is a real pain to deal with - but I did clear it up for several months and thought I had got shut, then it came back after chancing a bottle of fizzy wine (bad bad move).  There are things you can do to improve it (I don't want PPIs).  But I was real bad this time last year and that lump stuck feeling has disappeared mostly.

      Good luck, somehing will help.
