Hi! I am going to acupuncture this evening for the first time. I am hoping to try it for anxiety and migraines. Has anyone tried it for anxiety? Any success?

Yes defo keep me posted
I get that pain too at the back of my skull. I think it's muscle tension tbh.
If you want CBT you could probably book that appointment yourself. I don't think you need a referral from the doctor

Hi Backtome! I organised CBT myself, completed it about a month ago
You can't really count on GPs in that matter...
I am feeling better I must say and had few days without headaches, it was great!!! This morning I woke with unreal strong headache tho, it comes from my neck, very stiff muscles I must say... it gave me migraine and all at this stage
so I decided to buy orthopedic pillow, they are pricey as we talk about 100 euro or over but I will try anything that will help me!
How are you?

I get that too from all the muscle tightness . I find massage really helps but also watching my posture and trying to relax. I've been doing deep breathing exercises daily as well as some stretch exercises and just trying to remain calm and peaceful. I put on a good comedy occasionally and try to chill out and not think. Thinking is exhausting. It's weird how our own mind can be our worst enemy sometimes 🙈 but I've been doing good in general lately. I too refuse meds coz I hate the side effects and I don't want to feel numb but I'm not against them though. I know they do help people but for people with mild to moderate anxiety I think we can control it through lifestyle changes etc hope your feeling better ?

Ah that's great that you are able to keep your anxiety under control! Fair play to you
Delighted for you, it's good you found your coping strategy and you are sticking to it! I need to get better at it as I neglected meditation recently... Just sick of that pain and that travels all the time. Like I have no break other than when I'm asleep! Today say i took my migraine tablet so headache is gone but pain went down to my back and chest. It's like it never gives up... but we will get there! Sher that tension was building up for so long anyway so what am I expecting
I wish there were like meetings of ppl from Ireland who are on this forum so we could meet and b***h out about anxiety all we want!

Oh and I agree - our mind is our worst enemy!! Thinking hurts big time! Wish I had a switch...

I am currently going through youtube videos from dr. John Bergman. There is a video on reprogramming your brain how to be more positive, change thinking etc.

There are support groups for anxiety in some towns. Look it up. You might find one near you. 😁
