Acute CKD - advice wanted

Hi, Everybody,

I searched before posting, so hope I'm not asking something that's already been answered.

Yesterday, my labs showed 1.46 Creatinine, 52 GFA. I looked up over 6 years of previous labs, including one from June 2016 which all showed Creatinine of either 1.0 or 1.1 and GFA from 77-66.

I have been taking more Ibuprofen than before, but never more than 800 mg/day. Could this be the culprit?

If not, what could cause such a dramatic increase in 7 months? Mentally, I handled this much better yesterday than today for some reason. Any ideas much appreciated.

BTW, I turn 60 this week. Happy ____ing Birthday, right?

Thanks for the reply. I threw out all of my Ibuprofen on 2/20. The doctor recommended Acetaminophin as needed.

    Update - Hope springs eternal.

On my new lab test, dated 3/3, Creatinine dropped to .96 - all appears to be well.

3 changes: I quit the ibuprofen two weeks prior cut my protein intake and drank more water.

I am pulling for you - keep up the good fight.

Hi, same just happened to me. GFR came back 59  and creatinine .98 when a year ago it was 72 and .84  No explanation for the sudden drop in GFR as I have normal BP and mild pre diabetes sugar levels. Doing further testing to figure it out but I feel a little more optomistic that you did better after the changes you made. It is very frightening I admit!

Body chemistry is still mysterious to me. I have learned that when we control what we can, these numbers have a way of coming back into line.

      - Best to you.
