Adenocarcinoma....Just diagnosed

Hi there, I was in your shoes 2 years ago this week, mine was stage 1A, it is a scary diagnosis but I am sure you have been told, that having a hysterectomy is almost always curative, my GP told me this and my consultant told me this, you will worry, it is only natural but try to stay positive, a postive attitude is always a help, can I ask how old you are? Have you got a date for your hysterectomy yet? It's a lot to take in and you have people poking and prodding you, I remember it well, it becomes so surreal, everything happens so fast but do try not to worry, I know it isn't easy but do try. I, like many others are here for you whenever you need to talk.

Hi I am so sorry, you must feel so bad it's such a shock for you, one day at a time Hun, I don't know much about it, but I think stage 1 is contained in the uterus, so you will be okay, it's the thought of it is so frightening, they will operate asp and you can start healing from there, all the best xx

What are the Dr's going to do for you.

I assume a hysterectomy and also removal of tubes & ovaries just to be sure, and this will happen pretty promptly, and NO this is not going to do you in, Stage 1 is very early.

Can you get some counselling, from the hospital,  I did and they followed me through and even saw me in the hospital while I was not feeling well, part of the hospital team, also my local pastor was a big help with stopping me going into complete panic, she went with me to x-rays, cat scans, and pre-surgery clinics, even so I had a couple of panic attacks, but by the time of surgery I was more than ready to have them get rid of whatever it was.

One thing I do remember very clearly is the Dr explaining to me that this type of cancer is crazy slow growing, which is good

I had the same when I was 51 and I was terrified, very frightening to be told you have any kind of cancer, but I am now 65, and have never had any problems since.

I was put on HRT immediatly after my surgery as I seemed to go into some kind of shock, and had a hard time in the hospital with a bad reaction to the surgery, sweating and hot flushes, but for me it was more like a waterfall, fascinating to watch fingernails sweating, you could see bubbles of fluid form, very hard work for the nurses as I was constanly soaked and became dehydrated, it was truely horrible, but was able to wean myself off with Dr's help over the next 18 months or so. 

Now at 65 using suppositiries to stop tissue down below getting tooo thin.

I know I'm not in the same boat as you but I'm sure as you seem to be in the early stages you have a very good chance of recovery they probably remove the cells and may suggest a hysterectomy I hope all goes well with you I wish you all the best x

Hi Michele, I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  I was diagnosed with the same thing about 1 year ago, it is always a scary thing to hear.  I want you to know it is a very curable cancer and although you will worry , you will be OK!  I had the robotic assisted total hysterectomy.  Definetly the way to go if you can.  I went back to my doctor last month and am completely cured.  I only have to go for 6 month follow up but they told me I am considered cured!  Please dont hesitate to ask me any questions you have.  I live in Boston, Massachusetts.

It is scary, I know.  I was diagnosed in July of this year, and also had a total hysterectomy in the same month.  You have caught it early!  I felt the same way, and I'm sure that the ladies here felt the same way too, after their initial diagnosis.

Try to get scheduled for surgery as soon as you can!  Best of luck at the oncologist's today and let us know how you do!  xxx

Be strong and don't worry too much. I was in the same scenario you were in now early this year and had TAH last February. Hysterectomy is definate the answer. Talk to your gynae oncologist and ask questions to clear your doubt. I am only 38 years old. Because of my age, I took the risk, as per Doctor advise, to retain my ovaries. Doctor mentioned ovaries will weigh more health benefits to me as cancer is early stage, well differentiated cell. I went for my follow up more frequently than other stage 1 endometrial cancer survivor (once every 3 months).

Thanks so much everyone for all the kind words and support. I am having surgery October 7th and he is doing a total hysterectomy and will try to do it with robotics but I am extremely overweight so may not can. I am scared but wanna get this over with .
