I am extremely overwieght and my surgeon said that made me a candidate for the robotic surgery.  Good luck, let us know how things are going, I will keep you in my prayers.  I also want to tell you in a few months from now you will be amazed how fast the time goes,  you will be feeling great.  I keep saying that wasnt as bad as I thought it would be.

Keep in mind cancer is not what it used to be, they have made so much advances with it and you caught it early.

    Hugs to you.

Everyone on here is such a blessing to me and I appreciate each and every one of you for the support. I cried the day I found out and am still nervous and scared about the surgery cause I am praying the surgery takes it all and I will be in the clear and that I can say I kicked cancers butt.....my husband has been my rock and I haven't told my other family cause I dont want them to worry especially my mom cause she is old and is a very emotional person and has high blood pressure like I do. Does anyone who has had the surgery have high blood pressure and anxiety plus being overweight ? I just need some reassurance .

Hi again Michele, I am on beta blockers (initially for atrial fibrilation) they keep my BP controlled I am agorophobic so even getting to a hospital was a problem for me I was supposed to have an MRI scan after my diagnosis but refused,  as I am also majorly claustrophobic and no way were they going to shove me in an enclosed tube eek, I was also about 3 stone overweight when I had surgery, I have since lost 1 whole stone wooppee (only taken 2 years!) and am in the process of trying to lose the rest of it. I had to have surgery done in a private hospital that sits in the middle of nowhere as I can't cope with the large general hospital which is about 10 miles closer to where I live and of course would have been free, I don't have medical insurance but a family member/friend (ex husband actually) lent me the £7.000 the surgery cost, for which I was/am very grateful.

Hello phoebe. I am on lisinopril for my blood pressure but sometimes it don't help and my blood pressure goes up and is not under control . sorry you have that phobia. I don't mind hospitals I just get nervous sometimes and my blood pressure and heart rate sky rocket so when the day comes for the surgery I will be a nervous wreck but have an appt with my psychiatrist Friday and gonna let her know what's going on so she can give me something to keep my nerves calm during the waiting before surgery. When you say you lost stones do you mean weight ?

Yes 3 stone is around 19kgs, don't know where you are in the world, I'm in the UK and still haven't gone with the 'new' measurements, I prefer pounds/stones/ounces to Kgs/grams etc.

The reason I went on Beta Blockers (bisoprolol) my heart rate was at 190 beats per minute and wouldn't stop..................that was a very strange experience, if I go to the doctrs surgery my BP shoots up so now she gets me to do it at home and take the readings with me when I go.

    Hi Michelle,

Just want to let you know that crying and being nervous is a very normal response to what you are going thru, I did the same thing.  I also hesitated to tell my elderly parents , as I didnt want to worry them.  After getting more information I just let them know I was having a hysterectomy.  We sound so much alike, I live in the United States (Boston)  I am also very overweight, and take blood pressure medication.  My primary care physiscian gave me a prescription for Xananx to take the night before and morning of the surgery.  It was just enought to take the edge off.  I also want to let you know it is OK to cry and be scared, you dont have to put on your happy face and be strong all the time.  I learned also it is Ok to ask for help, as a retired nurse I was always the one to do for everyone else, I learned to let people do for me.  I know this doesnt help, but you will be OK!  This is a very curable cancer.  I had a hysterectomy and didnt have to have any other treatment or medication.  You are lucky they found this early.  I was also stage 1.  Stay positive , wish I was there to give you a big hug.

    Hi Michele,

My real name is Pam.  I take lisinopril and hydrochlortiazide for my BP.  The hydrochlorothiazide is a fluid pill.  Have you found out if they are going to do robotic surgery, if possible it is the way to go.  I only stayed overnight , was home the next morning.  I was tired and had to rest but it was manageable.  Of course no heavy lifiting.  But back to normal in about 6-8 weeks.  Feel free to ask me any questions you may have.  I am here for you.  I have family in Georgia, and I know you Gorgia girls are real peaches.  If I can give you a word of advice stay off Web MD and googling everything, it will only make you worry about things that are not necessarily your case.

Nice to meet you Pam. I take lisinopril too but without the water pill and my bp still is not regulated all the time . My oncologist said he was gonna try the robotic surgery but may have to do it the regular way cause I have had 4 c-sections buy hopefully he can complete it with the robotics . when was your surgery ? What part of Georgia do you have family in ? Do you have anxiety too ?

I know the cancer is scary enough and the operation but I was scared to death and kept saying to my hubby silly things but now I've had the hysterectomy going back last Nov you'll wonder why you worried so much in a way the recovery is harder as you can't do much for a while anyway don't worry all the best I'm sure you'll be fine

Thanks Caroline . yes it is scary cause we always say it can never happen to us then when it does you don't know how to feel about it but at that point you can understand what that person is going thru. 3 weeks will be here before I know it and each day that gets closer I get more and more nervous and scared

Had my surgery last March.  I do have anxiety also, was on Paxil for years but no longer have to take it.  My primary care gave me the Xanax just to take as needed before my surgery and apointment in Boston with oncologist. My family is from Marieeta Georgia and near Tybee Island. I had had one C-section.
