How common is the above? Could you still have an adenoma with normal prolactin?

Not sure Im answering your question. I had a dual pituitary tumour. It was prolactin and ACTH producing. Never experienced symptoms of Prolactin.

It depends whereabouts on your pituitary gland the tumour is as to which hormones it affects. I had a 3cm macro adenoma, but it only affected my cortisol and testosterone. My prolactin levels are normal.

I have extreme galactorhea but my prl is normal. and theyve asked me to do an mri for which im not very happy about

Question why would you not be happy to get an MRI to confirm? Is it a money thing? Hell I would jump at a chance to get an MRI to keep an eye on what’s happening.

May I ask why you have not had this removed 3 cm is pretty big? How is your eye sight that size I would think it would push on optic nerve.

your lucky to get an mri

that is a good way to see a tumor

      or parasellar mass

I would try to do it without contrast though

Hi Kim, yes the adenoma was removed in 2013, because it was affecting my eyesight, although I hadn't recognised how badly. Eyesight is back to normal, but cortisol and testosterone production are forever ceased. But it is easy to get an injection to replace the T, and hydrocortisone to replace the cortisol.....although the latter is a bit more tricky getting the right dose.

Because im sure its not this, thats all. If it was an adenoma, it would be the best outcome for me. But im sure its not. Im just slightly depressed and tired of going to the doctors

      hi Maddison

I would not dismiss it til you know for sure

      Unless you were breastfeeding recently

      this is very odd

      hi,

no i wasnt breastfeeding. ive never breastfed. my prolactin level was 29 though, which was within normal range according to that lab. so, i think that if it was prolactinoma the levels would be off the roof

      no, not necessarily

      sometimes with large adenomas

      the prolactin level is only

      slightly raised

your slightly above the general ref range

I really would get the mri just to check it out

me neither. but apparently, it happens. ovarian failure is called. i wouldve preferred to have a tumor than this.
