I get that as well. I don't get them as much as I did when I first started having symptoms but I still get it. Its horrible. The heart starts pounding, I feel like I can't catch my breath, and my body gets all tingly inside then comes the shaking. Its scary as hell when it happens.

I've been having problems with my hands and feet.  Really freaked by it and thinking I have something like MS ... But I'm deffo peri menopausal  49 , and have some other symptoms . Just didn't know other people got. Pins and needles . I think I get the adrenaline rushes too ,by the sound of things .m

This is a really common symptom. It seems to happen mostly randomly, but if I'm feeling generous to my hubby, and I've given his back a rub, then it really kicks off. My hands feel like they have an electrical current running through them! Wierd, but just another thing to get used to. No wonder it makes us anxious. Hope this has helped x

Thanks !  Do you ever get it in your feet? I do sometimes after I've been walking for a bit , but not all the time . my hands are all tingly now - I really worry about it ,which I think probably makes it worse

Sometimes, but not as often as my hands. Like all the other symptoms with peri, you just seem to get used to them after a while. It's taken me about 6 months to accept there's nothing wrong with me. I've had blood tests and heart tests for what my Doc calls 'for my own peace of mind'. Everything came back as clear, so now I just try and accept it, think less about it, so panic less. Doesn't take away the fact that you feel strange, but it seems to me that acceptance is the first step to 'normalising' things. Talking about it definitely helps, as does this website. We're all totally batty together! Best wishes to you x

Louise, that is exactly where I am at. I have had everything from the roota to the toota and all is clear. So I am just settleing into the fact that it is hormones. You are so right about it not making me feel any less weird and strange, I just let it happen and remind myself that its hormones and im ok. It did help with the panic. I still have my moments but they are no where near the way it was in the beginning.

Yes the symptoms are hard to cope with.  I had the adrenaline rushes last year for a few months almost continuos, and was so relieved when they stopped, then came the thinning hair, then bloatedness, now muscle aches and pains, headaches, hot flushes and just recently tinnitus!    I had a good day on Sunday after having about 10 hours sleep on Saturday night.

I felt like crap and then finally gave in and went to bed at about 9pm.

Yesterday the aches and pains, headache and tinniuts were back, and the weather was so lovely, but I just couldnt sit out in it, like I always would have done before.  My husband somewhat puzzled kept asking me if I was going to sit in the garden, because he knows how much I love the sun, but it just felt too uncomfortable for me.  How frustrating!!

Now the weather is cooler I feel somewhat better - never thought I'd think that way.  Our bodies really do weird things at this phase in life.

I keep resisting HRT, but maybe I'll have to give it a go.

I had the adrenaline rushes first for a few months too.I have so many symptoms it would take all this space to write it in. Unfortunately im not on anything as my gyne says I still have regular cycles even though it changed so I just been dealing with it. Its scary because I never know how I will feel. I can say I feel better than I did when all this started though.

I to have the continuing tinnitus with head pressure. I've been on HRT patches for 7 weeks but still have the tinnitus x

      Hi,

the tinnitus for me is quite a recent and pretty annoying symptom, especially as most of what I read about it says there is no cure.  When its bad I feel a pressure in my head as well. I have tried nasal spray, as my sinuses feel blocked, which relieves it a bit, but not for long.

I'm thinking of trying HRT patches basically for a number of symptoms. Dont know how long they take to work properly.

On the upside, my mum used to have bad tinnitus for a number of years, but hasnt had it now for quite a few, and she is really getting on!

Yes I get the head pressure with tinnitus. It's horrible. I am seeing an ENT specialist on Friday re other things but I will mention the tinnitus x

Actually I'm seeing an ENT specialist this Thursday. I'll let you know what they say about it.

I'm hoping there's a reason for the tinnitus which can be sorted out obviously - I do get sore blocked sinuses, and have practically no sense of smell, but have had these for a while, and the tinnitus just for a couple of weeks.

I have a fan on in my bedroom - even if I dont need to be cool - though it helps with flushes obviously. Having a continuos relaxing low background noise certainly helps as a distraction.

Yes let me know how you get on. Yes I've got problems with my sinuses and jaw. I've been waiting for this appointment for 4 months now. I'll let you know how I get on x

OH Gosh yes - I have jaw problems as well, 'TMJ'.  It started just over ayear ago and was really bad - clicking and popping, so I saw a specialist and he recommended ultrasound therapy, which I got from a local physio guy. I felt almost completely better after a few sessions.

It didnt trouble me at all for a while, but started to again earlier this year. I actually bought an ultrasound device and use it on myself when it flares up again - with pretty good results overall, but that hasnt seemed to help the tinnitus.

My ears pop sometimes, so I know I have some sort of pressure problem. I try to always have some sort of background noise going on, whether its a fan or the radio, which I do find helps, even if it doesnt totally eliminate it.

I know this is a bit off topic as far as menopausal issues go, but these are problems which often seem to coincide with this phase.  I have done a bit of research and it seems that ETD - 'Eustachian Tube Dysfunction' is one thing which commonly causes tinnitus which you can get with sinus problems, - so any methods which help this - the ETD - do sometimes help tinnitus quite alot as well. There are 'Earpoppers' you can buy, as well as nasal/sinus irrigation kits which can help.

I have just ordered one of these - not very much - and to start off with I am regularly trying to relieve my eustachia tubes with something called the  'Valsalva movement', which is done by pinching your nose and blowing quite hard with your mouth closed, filling your cheeks until both tubes pop open. It can take a while, but the advice is to keep going. Hold them open for a few seconds, release and then swallow.  Recommended to do several times a day.

I've just done it a few times and I dont know whether its a placebo effect but my ears do feel better after they have popped quite a few times!.

I'll try that. My face and front and back of head has a lot of pressure. My nose is the biggest problem. It burns and stings and is red raw inside. I can't breath without pain. I can't lye on a pillow without pressure and the buzzing in my ears tops it all. I can't remember what normal feels like.

You poor thing - its horrible isnt it. It sounds like you have inflammation, so any anti-inflammatory treatment might help. Its also the inflammation which could well be causing the tinnitus. If it is a sinus problem it probably can be sorted out which will reduce the tinnitus.

Lots of luck with youre appointment. I'll let you know what my ENT Dr says.
