Advise for hip pain, please

I started having problems with my left hip about 20+ years ago. It bothered me when I pushed my leg out to the side, ie rollerblading. I quit rollerblading and no pain. Then about 7 years ago I had to give up line dancing, same thing, side stepping hurt. But before I quit line dancing I saw the dr for goin pain. They sent me to a pain management Dr and they couldn't figure out the problem. Now my hip hurts and into my groin area. Hurts to sit very long, hurts to walk, just hurts. The pain management Dr gave me some type of injection guided with xray or something. It did nothing. Where do I start? What might be going on? I am 60 year old female.

Hi, Victoria! if I were you, I'd see an orthopedist who could do a physical exam, order imaging, and give you a diagnosis and treatment plan. An x-ray will tell lots about what may be wrong with your hip, especially if it involves the cartilage and/or bone in the joint.

You may want to start a thread over at the Hip Replacement forum, since you may get more replies over there. https://patient.info/forums/discuss/browse/hip-replacement-1109 Wishing you the best in getting a medical professional to figure this out for you!

Surgery is always a last option for me. I like to know what is wrong and then I use physical therapy to eliminate the possiblity of fixing whats wrong by strengthening the area. I don't know what area you live in by i had a great therapist who specialied in the hips. I also went to see an accupuncturist who was part of the equation in becoming pain free.
