ive just been told I'm going to be on beta blockers and aspirin,I think it's called bisoprolol,2.5mg,I'm currently working as a train driver, are the other posts that I've read, really that bad,as my work are saying once I start taking the medication I will be able to come back to work no problems,I'm going to have a angiogram in about a month,if what your saying is true,it sounds like it will affect my job,due to the tiredness and breathlessness, also I suffer from mild COPD,to many years smoking, will that have any consequences on the medication.

No one can hate the side effects I've experienced from bisoprolol any more than me...but.... There are many people who have this med and have had few or aware of any side effects. Also,I've not really had confidence in my GP or the cardiologist. Again this is only my personal experience and I believe that some have excellent GPs  and specialists.

My h beat was 150 BPM when diagnosed and it is now persistent but has not been above 118 BPM for some time. If you have read my previous posts you will be informed of the problems I've had. I'm currently weaning off atenolol  and having withdrawal symptoms. However I'm much better.

Probably your doc is checking you out with these further tests,so therefore doing his job! Also there is no way your doc will allow you to continue driving a train if there is even the slightest risk to the public. Keep  your chin up there are thousands of us with A/F, just keep asking questions . I can remember being so stressed out when I was diagnosed. Take care.

    Hi Richard,

as a former user of Bisoprolol at its lowest dose, I would advise as a matter of urgency, that you do not operate a train, or any machinery. The drug's notorious side-effects could have disastrous consequences. Even a dose of 1.25 reduced me to a sleepless zombie, as described by many other members of this forum.

Try BEFORE you return to work, demand something else if necessary.

    Best wishes,

    James

Dear richard, wait and see how you react, I have been on every dose from 1.25mg to 10mg, when I was on the low doses, I had no side effects, but when the dr. put me on 10mg, i was so ill, that's when I found this site, which is brilliant, I am now on 5mg, and I still have side effects, what i am trying to say is you have got yourself all worried and you haven't started taking them, there are probably thousands of people on them with no side effects, (wish i was one), so don't read all the bad things, wait and see, we are all different,, take care Izzie.
