I must have the other hip done and i am worried that that too will develope the same complication.  Has anyone heard of double Trendelenburg ?

Hopefully the second hip repacement will give you two normal hips and you will lose the Trendelenburg.

I was declared non-Trendelenburg at my consultation but had an antalgic gait which apparently is the limp that you develop for pain avoidance.

Until then I didn't even know limps had names.

Omg i am learning so much in here i didn't even know that limps have a name. I have a limp and the longer a walk the worse the limp gets then gets to the stage i can't even walk or limp another step my leg drags or i do like a shuffle and that's while I'm using crutches

Never heard of Antalgic Gait - but I have that, it's the 'penguin walking' syndrome.

Just done a big update to the website - section on various walking gaits with videos, and opening links in new tabs now.

Just had a quick peek.  Can I just say that my antalgic gait was mentioned at my initial consultation and a sign that I was avoiding pain in my unoperated hip. I have now lost this limp biggrin

Magic, the new knowledge is great, we hear about these terms, but don't know what they mean.  That's where the website comes in and hopefully explains in easy to understand English.

      Innit?  cheesygrin

I'm walking slowly, standing straight and now taking full weight on op leg.  I'm finding the 'marching on the spot' physio gives me confidence and is getting easier.  I use the back of a chair for balance but not for weight support.

I used to use the parrot's cage for balance too.  Glad you are improving.

I now know I have intermittent Antalgic Gait.

You'll have to explain that one Graham.  I googled it and got ...well ... parrot's cages redface

Oh, hang on, it's not a physio exercise is it?  You really did use a parrot's cage *facepalm*

My son was a zookeeper, and this bird would not socialise with other birds, nor could they train her to do anything ... so they let him adopt her.

She got on well with our cat, and now our new adopted cat too as you can just about see.

So nice that the bird gets along so well in her adopted home and with a cat, too! She's very pretty!
