Hi Cam - I don't quite know what to say. I didn't experience this feeling after my surgery, but my THR was needed because of bad wear from osteoporosis rather than a broken hip.

This doesn't sound right to me and I would probably see a doctor if the pain is bad. It could be bruising at the incision site, but a 'pushing sensation' sounds wrong to me.

Please let us know how you do.

    Good luck.

I feel no pain at all, when I lay on my opposite side I feel pressure and it "feels" like a bone is pushing against my skin. I broke the cup where the joint goes into and they put plates and screws to fix it and hold the problem. It just feels really odd, and weird and I was just trying to see if anybody else has felt this

Would it or could it be, because of the fresh nerves, and it's just really sensitive ??

You may well be right Cam - the small nerve fibres are often irritated or even cut in the operation, ditto all the different types of connective tissues (muscles, tendons, fashia, etc)

Hopefully someone with similar experience will jump in but it is late in many countries, so maybe tomorrow.

      Good luck.

Yes lots of repair, also broke the joint off my elbow, got that fixed, then I had something called atomic reduction? And had to go back to get another surgery. But anyway I had my hip surgery July 16th, and I just started putting 5lbs of weight down on my damaged hip. I just want to know why it feels like my hip is pushing towards my skin.

I also broke my hip. I feel like mine is turned inwards a bit. I try to correct it when walking, but after months of that the sensation hasn't gone away.

Really? That interesting, how about when you lay on your side at night, do you feel pressure on the broken hip? (When laying on the opposite side, of surgery)

For sure I feel it. I can do it,but if I think about it I get too concerned and roll over. My doc told me the fracture itself was not actually repaired. The repairs went on below the break, so I still do have a fracture that is now being held into place by whatever the heck else they did...

Yes that exactly how it feels like. "Almost like I can feel the work that has been done specifically" I guess it just really sensitive muscle, nerve, eat ect, so it's making me feel Alittle discomfort

Yep. I have that sort of feeling. I had a bone graft reconstruction with my thr. When I lie on my opposite site it feels like my new hip is too big. Lol. Something alien in there. You'll get used to it. As everything heals it's not so noticeable.

Also, look up massage for the incision area. That helps also.

      Good luck.

    Hi,

Not sure if it is what you are experiencing, but I had the feeling that I was sitting on a golf ball - I still get it when at work 9 months post-op when sitting immobile for long periods.

Yea, it doesn't feel as big as that, but yes I feel pressure and it's not painful just uncomfortable ya know? I was in a motorcycle accident and was thrown off an overpass landed 50 ft later in the grass broken left hip, fractured right hip, broken elbow, and punctured lung. But I have recovered very well other then that feeling in my hip/scar area making sure it wasn't very serious and if I was the only 1

What bike?  I had a 2300cc Triumph Rocket which had to go because of the OA pain.

Custom 636 Yamaha street fighter, the crazy thing it litterally rose against the concrete barrier and fell over and slid maybe $400 to get it fixed I went off the edge of the overpass and the bike stayed uptop, I owe $200,000 for my medical bill, pretty crazy if you ask me.

That's crazy ....... but typical of the things that happen in life - glad you are otherwise OK though, it could have been so much worse.

Oh exactly! Just how it was my fault I wrecked, when somebody merged infront of me yea know?? Haha that's life! And yes sir I'll walk and stunt ride again so I am wonderful! Just long recovery time!
