Afterlife ~ yes, or no?

I am curious of how other's feel about the "afterlife". If you believe there is one or isn't.
I am a believer that we are living in the midst of going to a wonderful, fullfilling afterlife or come back until we get it right...what do you think?

That' is certaily a points of view, a synthesis of two distinct ideas somewhat merged. The ideas of
(1) the ill effects of religion
(2) atheism
(1) that is a mater of historical analyis. As in any historical aspect an infinite variety of analyes is possible although at various periods in a particular society a more or less accepted view may be current. It is not a belief system and any logical deduction from a defined set of reports may be considered valid.
(2) Atheism is a belief system as is belief in a being that created everything that is created. Neither belief system depends upon any religion. Religion may more often than not define the view as to a god or gods for its adherants.
Belief systems of themselves do neither harm or good.
Religions, however, in defining what is for them the acceoted view as to god or gods, is often an organisation that requires responses from its adherants that has led to wars, murders etc. there is no direct connection between these ill effects and the existance or not of one or more beings capable of creating everything.
I look forward to reading your further observations.

this is such a strong point!
therein lies our focus.....at the moment. Why is this?

For the rest, we have made our points. Perhaps the remaining issue is mankind rather thany any individual. I see mankind being at root wicked and deserving nothing good. Yet good does come our way as well as the pains and sorrows.

(2) If we set our datum point as absolutely good than we are all a long way from that standard.
(1) is useful for practical issues in family and society
(2) is useful for Theological purposes

I can feel your pain with what you just wrote. I know that as time passes, you always remember the times shared together but the pain your feel will subside. I, myself, have lost so many people dear and near to my heart but if my husband would pass before me, I would be lost. I also deal with 24/7 chronic pain and I'm full of meds to help me deal with some of it. I had a spine stimulator but they had to remove it because it was faulty...so I was advised not to have another one put in. I didn't mind because the stimulator only triggered the nerves and the pain usually got worse.
Sorry to go off on that. I'm happy you have your kids and they are close to you. Do you have grandkids? Hopefully you're able to stay active enough to get you through the days, weeks and months. If not, try donating time to a good cause as that will not only fill the lonely feelings, it will lift you up when you see what you can do to change someones life just by giving your time.
Anyway, I'm rambling because it's not 2:15 am and I've been up since 6 am yesterday. My mind gets like this at times and i cannot shut it off.
So, hoping and wishing you a healthy and happy 2015!

Anyway, nice to see your post to wingman, Marey...I share the same feelings, the warmth and welcome of "our" little group. Nicely said, my friend.
Warm regards,
