Has anyone as young as 41 been prescribed HRT? I reckon i would have a right fight on my hands with my doctor if i suggested it. Is there a blood test you can have to see if it is perimenopause or menopause?

You can have a hormone blood panel done. A lot of docs prefer to go off a patient's symptoms though because hormone tests can be unreliable since hormones fluctuate so much. For some people it takes having the test done a few times before you get an accurate result.

      Hi kezzabird,

I think you probably can go on it but it seems the doctor's like you to think you shouldn't be experiencing symptoms until you are around 51.

I was told after blood tests that I was peri when I was 46. The doctor seemed so unconcerned that I didn't research peri or anything until after I was post.

If I had known anything about it then I would have asked about it.

So many of my symptoms that were blamed on depression and mental health have all gone since starting it.

I think that's what's happened to me. Diagnosed with depression years ago but I think it was peri.

      Hi Chris,

Looking forward to hearing if it helps.

I read about it a while ago from a meno doctor online (if I mention his name it will be moderated).

He calls it reproductive depression. I'm taking what he recommends, oestrogel and Utrogestan.

Chris, Please let me know how it works out. I'm thinking that's my next option but convincing my gyn is another matter.

I am 46 too and only realised recently that the various symptoms I have been experiencing could be all part of peri. I have tinnitus, sense of blood pulsing behind my ears, seems be around my period and usually in the evenings. I still worry at times it might be something serious and perhaps should go to doctors to have it checked but then if I went with every single symptom I would be there every day. I don't know if it's the symptoms or the anxiety that they bring about what really troubles me most. I hate feeling this anxious about my health.
