All I want for Christmas

I should so happy enjoying my new 11 week hip which is so amazing to me every day the relief I have. My wish for present under the tree would be letter for my surgeon telling me he wil do my other one 6 weeks early on xmas day. Tried xmas shopping so many times & the pain is just unbearable. I don't want to be miserable for xmas or my 50th in January. All the pain meds aren't helping. Bone on bone again. Any movement is agony. I took solpadol at 6 this evening & couldn't move with pain by 8.30 so took tramadol which made me throw up an hour later. Any advice whether medications or otherwise would be appreciated. Can't sleep, walk, stand without pain.

I have been on 9 grams of fish oil since the middle of last year and it's made so much difference to my pain levels. It's a huge dose and smaller doses don't help. I take 6 1500 mg tablets, 3 in the morning and 3 at night. There's quite a few studies showing it helps.

The other thing is anti inflammatories. I'm not sure if you're taking them but neurophen is good but the doctor can prescribe other more effective ones like celebrex.

I really feel for you. It's so depressing and debilitating and painful. I hate it. Life just isn't worth living. I'm so glad I live in this era where hips can be replaced.

Let us know how you go.

The other ideas would be to ice it but that's only temporary. And to use a stick again.

I'm already taking anti inflammatories twice a day. I think the hip is just in such a state that no painkillers are going to do anything for it. Thankfully I have 29th January & op to look forward to. It's going to be a long 6 weeks though. I will try the fish oils though. Did u get them in pharmacy or health shop?
