All in my head?
Posted , 4 users are following.
I've had an issue for a while concerning painful sex and bleeding after.
This all started after a prolongued hospital stay and antibiotic treatment including several thrush flare ups due to the antibiotics.
I've seen two docs who have examined me and ran swabs and found nothing so referred me to psychosexual counselling.
They have said they won't refer me to a gyno.
The issue now is that my lady area has started flaring up and getting really sore now without any physical contact at all. So how can it all be in my head? I understand tensing in anticipation of pain but how can my mind cause inflammation and soreness? I just don't know what to do and this is ruining my life!
Does anyone have any ideas?

They talk about lesions and spots with liquid coming out of them where as mine is just red x
The thinning of skin theory does make sense though x

That's why swabbing you w no sores present was pointless. Swab tests are accurate when a sore is swabbed w in 48hrs of onset.
One girl just posted on here this past week and the other week, w same symptoms. One had some itching though.
You never mentioned if you notice it more around your period?

I would print out the website I posted, not this forum... Docs really hate forums. Just be prepared for attitude and defenses to go up, if you present anything from the internet. My personal opinion is that of, nobody has your best interest at heart than you and since doctors seem to be so lazy these days and dismissive, you have to do due diligence yourself, because they're failing to.
If they already think it's in your head, I really do anticipate something from the internet not going over well, but here to hoping! ;-)
Good luck and let me know the outcome. When's your next appt? I'm anxious for you. Not having answers is the worst.

Fingers crossed!
I think it's two issues myself. There is definitely something physical going on but think some of it is secondary vaginismus.
Seeing a different doctor thus time!

I think you may have vulvadynia, die to constant irritation and now your nerves are misfiring, but the other symptoms, make me believe you may have herpes. That's the worst case scenario.
Sending all good vibes your way and here's to finding answers! When I went to tons of appts and diff docs and biopsies, I felt so deflated that I had no answers. It took me five years to get diagnosed w vulvadynia and I cried after that appt, because I finally had some peace and the doctors weren't looking at me crazy. I took some meds used to retrain the nerve paths, but couldn't handle the aide effects. So I used lidocain for years. Good luck! Demand testing!

Went to a new doctor on Thurs and she was fantastic. So helpful I actually cried!
She said she agrees with me that there is something physical going on. She took a full history and is going to consult with a specialist to get advice on the next step forward.
As I wasn't experiencing any soreness at the time she has asked me to call her immediately when I get a flare up and she will organise an emergency examination with her.
She has a few possible ideas abt what it could be. Thinning of the skin and others but wants to consult with the specialist first x she doesnt think it's herpes luckily :-)
Feeling much more positive!
