Allodynia in fibromyalgia.

Allodynia is where your skin can hurt to touch and where mild pressure from clothing can hurt too. I have noticed recently that my clothes are hurting me the slightest pressure from clothing. feels like Ive an elephant standing on my back this is especially when wearing a bra, thin nightdress or top. The pain has been unbearable it has had me rolling round the bed in sheer agony. Have any of you experienced the same.

    Oh no poor you. Welcome to my world, it is something I have been experiencing for awhile,😒 I think people feel it in differing degrees. My specialist explained it in terms of the signals to our brains are being scrambled so we feel pain when we shouldn't, as the pain receptors in our brains are not working as they should, or receiving faulty signals. My specialist wants to put me on a medication they give to migraine suffers so it must be some how related. Good luck and air kisses as I don't want to hurt you, Meg🌺

      I have been having this for a while now, who would of thought wearing clothes could be so painful, even down to my quilt on the bed. when I tried to explain this to a dr and a specialist they looked at me as if I was crazy, I thought they were going to have me certified. At least we all know its not in our heads what is happening is real. medication for migrains sounds interesting umm will have a word with my gp about that when I can. take care meg gentle hugs xsmile

    i get that to but not while wearing bras im not that way inclinded lol but my clothes and even my bed plus covers hurt me i even get pain when i sit or lay down and the slightest pressure causes me agonising pain

      Not pleasent at all is it when our clothes or bed sheets are causeing us pain. when I tried explaining this once to a specialist and dr they looked at me like I had gone mad. I thought they were going to have me catred away. At least us fibro sufferers no its not in our head what we are feeling and going through

      its not in our heads and people need to understand that cause when they dont that hurts us so much more than fibro it self

    Thanks Kaz...Yes we do suffer from a few, the root cause-this rotten Fibro...grrr

    The different kinds of allodynia:

    Mechanical allodynia (also known as tactile allodynia)

    Static mechanical allodynia – pain in response to light touch/pressure

    Dynamic mechanical allodynia – pain in response to stroking lightly

    Thermal (hot or cold) allodynia – pain from normally mild skin temperatures in the affected area

    and Movement allodynia - pain triggered by normal movement of joints or muscles 

    That's us...

    Allodynia is a clinical feature of many painful conditions, such as neuropathies, complex regional pain syndrome, postherpetic neuralgia, fibromyalgia, and migraine. Allodynia may also be caused by some populations of stem cells used to treat nerve damage including spinal cord injury. ..:-( xxx

      Thank you for that Christine, it seems I may have the temperature thingy, as when I'm in the shower the water temp feels really nice on my body but I get pain in my feet from the heat of the water and so have to have cool showers rolleyes

      Hi christine Nothing we have with fibro is nice this is 1 of them. I go through all of them at different times. the 1 I get all the time is clothing hurts me wearing a bra is painful wearing a silk nighty is painful. clothes hurt me constantly. its a case of grin bear it as ou cant go out with out any on. Having 2 males in the house I cant walk around with nothing on at home.dont you just love fibro the condition that keeps giving.take care gentle hugs

      Awe poor  you Kaz...if only there was something you could wear that didn't effect you like that...funny as...2 males in the house...no it's not good us it...it's very interesting isn't it? just how many different symptoms some get that others never do and visa versa...sooo interesting...gentle hugs,,hope you have a lovely comfortable  day..:-) xxx

      good morning christine How are you today Hope you slept well. I woke up a couple of times but managed to get back off. I didnt have a very good evening I was in alot of pain from head to toe. I was covered in whaeat bags hot water bottles their wasnt an inch that wasnt coveredlol. pain has eased to what it was thank  goodness. Its no fun not nice to have when your clothes are causing you pain. Every piece of my clothing causes me pain, but its a case of get on with it, as I cant walk around with no clothes on. now heres a thought I could always join a nudist colonylol. on 2nd thoughts may be not.
