I'm 52 female.I've been  on this drug for a couple of years. I started with 2.5mg then 5 . The last couple of days I've been put on 10mg as my bp was165 over 100. After reading the commentspabout the drug I don't feel confident about taking a stronger dose. I do feel very tired stressed, joint pains & stiffness. Even tingling down left side if body. Doc said it could be blood pressure causing this tinglness. It is very hard to feel reassured. Is it the drug that us causing these symptoms or is it that I need to get the blood pressure down. I feel very anxious and not sure what to think anymore. Does anyone know of any good natural supplements that help reduce blood pressure?

im now being investigated with blood tests for anemia thyroid problpems, X-ray on chest & knees. I m always stressed with work & home life.

Anyone have any positive outcomes with a this amlodipine? As I'm. So confused.

thanks

Thanks.

I've been on Amlodipine 10 mg for a while, at the start I was very fatigued, and my feet swelled. Now I have acclimated, the fatigue is still there but not as severe, and my feet have stopped swelling, I attribute that to lots of walking, prior to that I was taking water pills which didn't work well.\

I've written this before, but one more time won't hurt, if I didn't exercise I would be a mess. I fought the fatigue by lifting weights, walking, and an acceptance of the side effects of a med that I know I need.

I've been on Amlodopine for several years now, my BP is good but i now realise I have been suffering side effects, such as palpitations, lack of drive, feeling tired, feeling down, head in the clouds at times.. forgetful.. the thing was my late wife had cancer for 8 years and i simply associated a lot what I was experiencing as how I was feeling about our situation. She passed away in February this year and I became more aware of the side effects. I have been doing some research and have an appointment with my doctor on Friday where I'll be asking for a change.

I'm confused on this drug too, I saw my doc the other day and mentioned this to her and she has not had complaints on it.....I've been taking 5mg with my 25mg Atenolol and 25mg hydrochlorizide and rather than trying something new I suggested I take 1/2 of the 5mg tab and that's what I was doing....

It  never fails that I get white coat in doc's office when I know they will check BP and I was feeling anxious the other day and was pleased with my BP reading of 130/70.

I'm loaded with joint pain from OA and Fibro stuff but is the Amlodipine making things worse, I don't know .

Magnesium intake is critical to keep cardio in good shape and I take high doses of mag thru the day.....B vitamins too including Inositol.       j

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing these difficulties with this drug. These are common side effects with Amlodipine and increased anxiety as well. Why not just simply ask your doctor to find another BP med to try you on with possible less side effects.

Yes, if you google natural remedies to lower your BP you will find a wealth of information.

    HiLouise,

I stopped taking Amlodipine due to the side effects, it took a week for the swelling in my ankles to go down. The Dr put me on Lisinoprol. My BP was 140/95.I started taking Grape Seed Extract, my BP has dropped to 124/89. I intend to stop taking Lisinopril and see how my BP responds to just taking the Grape Seed Extract. The Lisinoprol has caused a dry irritating cough. There does not seem to be a BP medication that does not have unpleasant side effects.

Take good dosing of magnesium thru the day, this will help bring down the so called fearful BP....   COQ10 is very essential too for heart health and BP.....they all have side effects and I think more and more we are all brainwashed with this FEAR of the BP....

Homeopathics are useful too in the HBP and so is acupuncture.....I don't like these drugs and there are ways to work on this issue without the drugs....just know, BP changes constantly and that 120/80 is so made up I'm convinced....maybe when we were 20.....

You got it girl! Looking into the magnesium myself today. Also good for healthy muscle and nerve, since mine are ruined now. Never had an actual problem with my BP, so since coming off the meds its been fine. Would you be able to justify in your mind that your body is damaged from 2 meds that you didn't even need? I'm struggling very hard with this. Active and now muscle and nerve damage and stressed to the max just to get better. Makes no sense to me and I cna't even sue the Dr who did it.

Would they be a statin or an antiobiotic as I know these can cause a lot of damage....the abx would be cirpro or levaquin, that class of levoquoline(sp)  laced with deadly fluorides.....docs would NEVER admit wrong doing....I steer clear of conventional MD's....been working in the alternative medicine world for 25 yrs....

I'm dealing with a mess from a hip replacement.

So sorry for your troubles with your hip job! Yes, statins. I took Simvastatin and then my doc prescribed Amlodipine on top. Dangerous mix.....caused alot of damage. I did tons of researh, registered a complaint with the FDA and ordered results for one of the clinical trials. I was mortified with what I read by what these drugs do to the body. 874 people comitted suicide.  I'm in rehab with a Chiropractic Neurologist Functional Dr now. Will never trust another md again. With all the damage to my body he says it could be a couple of years for me to heal. Been like this for so long now I'm sidck of it. I'm used to working out and now down to doing light housework. But...better than I was back in March. Take care of your hip!

      Hi Joy,

Thanks for the info re Magnesium, going to get some this week. Determined to come off all BP drugs asap. How much Magnesium do you take daily?

I am horrified that Dr's are making terrible mistakes mixing drugs which are not supposed to be combined,eg Simvastatin and Amlopidine. I was taking Atenolol but have asthma. I found out by chance that Asthnatics should not be on Beta Blockers - scarey!

I take 500mg mag citrate or glycinate three times per day, so I take a high dose, start with 500mg and work up and see how you do....many take mag to bowel tolerance....I've  had a history of constipation so the dose I take is good for me....rather loose than constipation....don't want those colons clogged up.

Doc are brainwashed to do write scripts and that's what they do...we can't trust them too much, so need to do our own work....

There is a new procedure I am keeping an eye on. Removing the karated organs. They are no bigger than grains of rice. But they do incredible things concerning blood pressure. Test subjects had these organs removed ant thewir blood pressure dropped to normal and stayed there without any medications. Worth watching. Who knows.
