An Experiment with Borax

So, I've been in Vietnam now for just over a month. Haven't had any itching, but the white plaque has expanded and looked like a bit more fusing had occured. Panic set in and of course I was trying not to. However, now that we're here, my husband has been able to start doing more research to help me. And he came across some stuff about borax. So we started an experiment 6 days ago. Not using any steroids, but instead each morning and night he's applying to one side a saturated borax solution and the other side a saturated baking soda solution (as we'd read that some people found baking soda helpful). We've been taking photos in order to compare as we progress. As mentioned, we are on day 6 and there is honestly some change! My clitoris which was quite white has returned to pink. And while the whole area still has some white, the pink is really starting to move in more. The biggest changes are on the side with the borax, with some change on the side with the baking soda (but since some of the borax can get rubbed off on that baking soda side we can't say for certain that the baking soda is having a major effect). We are feeling optimistic about this and I will keep everyone posted. During the day I do continue to add vitamin E oil to keep moisturized.

Yet another Borax update. I had an appointment at the Homeopathic hospital this morning (I've been going since I was diagnosed so se knows all my ups and downs). She said that Borax (sodium borate) is used in skin remedies such as frail skin, shrunken or tight skin and vulval discomfort. It doesn't mention LS but (I think I'm remembering this right) is used in oral LP and mouth ulcers. We talked about a few remedies so I hope that second part is right.

I've now been prescribed homeopathic Borax drops, but told not to use them at the same time as I'm putting it on my skin. To save them for when the topical Borax is less effective, take a break from it and take the oral drops for a while.

She also said that it's a common phenomenon for things put on skin to work for a few weeks then loose their effectiveness. So to keep taking rests from remedies is a good idea.

So, as always, I will feed back how it goes.

Oh great info! I know for certain that I did read that borax was used for oral LP. I'm curious about the borax drops as I have read a bit about people taking borax orally (very very small dosages). As I'm still breastfeeding it's something I wouldn't do, but please keep us posted on the drops usage because it's something I'd be interested in at a later date.

Right now I'm using the borax solution at night and am slowly stopping it while continuing to moisturize with either vitamin e, jojoba oil with some essential oils or tamanu oil (which is a new one I've picked up here in Vietnam).

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and info! I'm hopeful that the more people try it and have some success the more others will give it a go.

Thank you for this update.  It comfirms my experiences as well, saying LS likes variety.

I can't find Borax in the UK, can anyone help to locate some for me please

I bought some from ebay. Tried everywhere to get some first but drew a blank. It's restricted in the EU because people used to use it as eyewash apparently, and damage thier eyes (so the parmacist I asked told me). I got 400g for about £11 and it arrived wthin 2 weeks. Using it now with some success. Good luck.

Thought I'd give what I think is an interesting update. Had a bit of stress hit me last week, which of course meant I started feeling some itchiness and there was a small tear in the crease of my labia. Upon examination, I noticed some white material in the crease area. Bah, fusing. Well, I pulled out my borax (which I had cut back on using just to see how my body would handle it...and it was doing well until the damn stress) and started dabbing specifically at the white material. I did that for several minutes and happily discovered that that beginning of the fusing eventually wiped away! The area has again calmed down. Yay.

Yay! I really appreciate these updates. I've been using borax, too. It's working!

Personally, it has helped relieve my itching, has decreased the white plaque and helped release my fusing. It's been overall very successful. It's definitely not an end to things permanently, but it has kept things in check whenever the stress has hit and I start showing signs again.

Thanks so much for your updates, Alistar!  Whenever I cut back on the borax treatments, the white areas, which had dramatically faded, start to increase, so I'll just keep on with the  borax.  Even if I just keep the situation at bay with treatments, then it's a blessing.

Thanks for that. I am planning to buy some borax and give it a whirl!

I am very interested to know if anyone on here has tried taking oral borax in very small dosage and what the results are or were if any?

Yes, i've been taking  1/8 teaspoon every day for all of this year, apart from a three week break when i tried boron tablets instead.

It stopped my knee hurting, and when i had the break my knee started hurting again.   So am taking the borax again and the knee is ok.   I mix it into my hot chocolate last thing at night.

apart from an episode of being sore and itchy which lasted a couple of days this year, i dont really have much in the way of LS symptoms.   I bathe in borax and have  altered architecture, but the white patches are gone, along with the itching.

I use borax and emu oil and sometimes ovestin cream.

      xx

Hi Nelsmydog I'm trying boron tablets now too, but it seems they didn't work for you. Did they have any effect on your LS? Does the borax you're taking internally? I can't see that they're having any effect on me but then I'm only taking one a week as more frequently gave me the runs! I also bathe in borax and put it on every other day, but I wondered if taking it orally would help in any way. I've also had a spate of broken fingers and toes through being clumsy, but they seemed to break so easily. I wondered if I had a deficiency. I'd be interested to know more about your experience.
