An Experiment with Borax

Posted , 187 users are following.

So, I've been in Vietnam now for just over a month. Haven't had any itching, but the white plaque has expanded and looked like a bit more fusing had occured. Panic set in and of course I was trying not to. However, now that we're here, my husband has been able to start doing more research to help me. And he came across some stuff about borax. So we started an experiment 6 days ago. Not using any steroids, but instead each morning and night he's applying to one side a saturated borax solution and the other side a saturated baking soda solution (as we'd read that some people found baking soda helpful). We've been taking photos in order to compare as we progress. As mentioned, we are on day 6 and there is honestly some change! My clitoris which was quite white has returned to pink. And while the whole area still has some white, the pink is really starting to move in more. The biggest changes are on the side with the borax, with some change on the side with the baking soda (but since some of the borax can get rubbed off on that baking soda side we can't say for certain that the baking soda is having a major effect). We are feeling optimistic about this and I will keep everyone posted. During the day I do continue to add vitamin E oil to keep moisturized.

Is this the same borax you buy at the grocery in a box for leaning or is it something you should buy at a pharmacy?  I have had this for 30 years and am excited to try something new.

Same one as the grocery store. Often found in the detergent aisle as it is used as a fungacide, repels ants, helps clean cloth diapers...it's got so many uses! I hope you have equal success as I have. Please let us know! If it does help, the more that express their success with it the will be more who might be willing to try smile

      Hi Alistar

I have a question I think you will be able to answer as you are so knowledgeable on LS. I have white lines on both sides of my labia, is this scarring or fusing? I seem to spend so much time looking fown there since I've been diagnosed wondering what's normal and what isn't. What colour I should or shouldn't be in that region it's driving me nuts. I have ordered some Borox from America as I can't find anyone selling it in the uk. In your experience does it get rid of these white lines?

I hope your symptons are continually improving, I wish you well.

      Thank you Tania

      Hi Tania,

There are definitely people more knowledgeable than I am on LS, so they might be better to answer the question with regards to the white lines. For me I have found that when I had those white lines it was an indication of where I had some fusing take place. As I mentioned, mine wasn't/isn't really bad, but more had occured than I had realized as the fusing continued to release with the use of the borax. And like you, I was unsure about how things previously looked! I was seriously contemplating speaking to past partners who I'm still friends with...crazy but I was just so desparate to know. I hadn't even realized that I had had some fusing occur on my clitoris. It was pretty devastating to realize that more fusing had taken place than I had though - but again, from what I've read, it's not that "bad". Once I started using the borax and saw the pink returning I was like ahhhh, okay, yes, I see it now. And because we were doing borax on one side and baking soda on the other, I was able to do a comparison since the baking soda wasn't doing anything (or if it was, it was doing it so slooooooow). Once you're able to try out the borax be sure to take pictures. It will really help you to be able to do a comparison and know what's happening. I'm definitely looking healthier that I have in a long time. I sincerely hope it works for you too!

      Hi Alistar

How is your experiment with tbe Borax going, good I hope. I haven't been able to find any in the UK so have had to order from the states, doing it this way is very expensive tho'. Anyone know where I can get it in UK?

It would be good for an update on your experiment with the Borax if you are able to please and I hope you are doing well.

So far everything continues to go really well. I've cut back my usage, only applying every couple of days. I'm keeping my stress level as low as possible in the hopes that I can eventually just cut it out all together and only use the borax for flare-ups. I do continue to use vitamin E or jojoba oil, although even that I'm not super regular. The crazy thing is having discovered that I'd had some fusing on my clitoris and hadn't realized it. The only reason I know now is because of the release of the fusing.

I feel like someone else had posted a similar issue with finding where to purchase borax in the UK. If I can find the comment I'll let you know. The good thing is that the borax goes far in the sense that you don't need to use a lot in the application, so depending on how much you make of your saturated solution, it should last you quite some time.

Hi Alistar, as you've been so very helpful I thought I'd ask you this. I ordered borax on eBay. They sent me boric acid instead. Is this the same thing or should I just send it back? Thanks Jacki!

      Hey Jackie!

Sorry I didn't get back to you right away. I read your message but I was heading to bed, and then I forgot about it. Boric acid is NOT the same. DO NOT use it, definitely send it back. I'm glad you checked. Phew. Sodium borate and borax are the same.

Many thanks Alistar, I've already sent it back! Presumed it was wrong . Person who sent it out apologised for their mistake!  Thank the Lord I didn't use it! Better safe than sorry!  Will look again for borax ( or sodium borate).

      Thanks again Jackiexx

I have had a real job to find Borax in the uk,.....  Eventually the stuff i bought said borax on it, but gave no other info.      I decided to do  a search on the differenece between borax and boric acid.......     It seems borax is a terrible eye irritant and boric acid, which is made from boron is used. Or rather used to be used, as an eye wash......

it looks as though boric acid contains more boron than borax......      And its used on skin  to help with stuff like athletes foot......

will keep searching......  But does anyone know why we canT use boric acid?

its coming out ok so far......,   Whatever i bought in the container, is  helping sooth my skin, i think......  Only a week in, but not itching quite so bad.....

considering taking photos, but cannot work out how to save them in a folder which is password protected.....

      xx

Also look up "medical uses for Borax on the web, you will find a lot of information there! Please read this thread,i f you haven't already, and you will learn about the saturated solution she and a lot of us use. Good luck

      Hi

I do hope things are good with you?

I have been using the borax solution everyday, sometimes twice a day for approx 2 months to treat my LS. Initially there seemed to be some unfusing of the labia, but now its seems to have stopped working. Your thoughts on this please

Also just inside the entrance to the vagina i feel sore and have done so for a couple of years, which was particularly noticable when i was in a relationship and having sex

      Thank you

      Tania

Same thing happened to me a while ago.  So I switched back to baking soda for a while and then back to borax.  LS liked variety. (ha)

Also important for me is that I keep the area moist and lubricated with coconut oil or other.  When seriously sore I use emu oil for a while, since it has an added vit E for healing.  I hope this is of some help.

      Thank you

The soreness is just inside the vagina opening and was wondering if it's ok to put some borax inside or is the tissue there to delicate.

      Are you sore inside to?

At present there is no soreness inside.  Perhaps it might be wise to see a doctor for that.

?Since I sit in borax baths I don't think it will hurt the inside opening of the vagina.  I only know that I should not use too much borax.  It affects me in a stronger way then for instance baking soda.

      Hi Kippy,

I had some soreness previously, mine was towards the back of the opening. My doctor prescribed an estrogen cream to help, and it did. I've never had the pain return. Another newer contributer has spoken about using boric acid suppositories (which totally surprised me). I'm about to head to bed otherwise I'd search out her post for you, but have a look and maybe direct a question to her. Hope you can find a solution for this!

As well, another contributor who spoke to a naturopath who told her it was good to realx usage of borax every so often. So maybe try that, give your body a break (as long as you're not in a flare-up) and restart treatment if necessary at a later date. I've found that I don't need to use my solution as regularly as I used to.

      Keep us posted!
