An Experiment with Borax

So, I've been in Vietnam now for just over a month. Haven't had any itching, but the white plaque has expanded and looked like a bit more fusing had occured. Panic set in and of course I was trying not to. However, now that we're here, my husband has been able to start doing more research to help me. And he came across some stuff about borax. So we started an experiment 6 days ago. Not using any steroids, but instead each morning and night he's applying to one side a saturated borax solution and the other side a saturated baking soda solution (as we'd read that some people found baking soda helpful). We've been taking photos in order to compare as we progress. As mentioned, we are on day 6 and there is honestly some change! My clitoris which was quite white has returned to pink. And while the whole area still has some white, the pink is really starting to move in more. The biggest changes are on the side with the borax, with some change on the side with the baking soda (but since some of the borax can get rubbed off on that baking soda side we can't say for certain that the baking soda is having a major effect). We are feeling optimistic about this and I will keep everyone posted. During the day I do continue to add vitamin E oil to keep moisturized.

Just wanted to say thank you to everybody who has posted here for making me feel better. Im in the midst of a flare and trying to remain optimistic and calm despite the pain.

Im interested in trying borax as my skin texture is changing and my vulva does look a bit shrunken, but as of yet nothing too major and very minimum white patches.

My issue tends to be more linked with cracked skin and paper cuts (not linked to sex). Would the borax be safe to use on this and help? Also do you apply to the whole vaginal/anal area or only on painful parts and obvious changed skin?

I was initially just applying it to the areas with the white plaque. However eventually I was soaking a cloth and laying it across the entire area and letting it sit there for about 30 minutes. I can't honestly say how it will work for you as everything with the disease is different for everyone it seems! As you've got cracked skin I would definitely make sure to be keeping well moisturized if you aren't already.

I've healed the splits with an after toileting spray of non-alcohol witch hazel...please make sure it has no alcohol...and then applying 100% aloe vera gel. Coconut oil...organic, or the high grade manuka honey work well also.  If you can not find these items locally you can find them online. Keeping moisturized is extremely important.

I'm still doing well on borax. I have a seam appearing on a bit I diddn't even realise was fused. I took pictures today. Wish I'd taken your advice and done that from the start. I'm sure that there's more of me then before but it's slight and I can't be sure. Oh well, will keep going.

How are others doing on borax? Still good?

Things continue to go well for me. I've cut back my usage to 1-2 times a week and still moisturize. That seems to be keeping things in check. I plan on cutting it off completely at some point just to see how I far. I imagine should I get his with a pile of stress I'll relapse, but for now, I'm doing well! Glad to hear things are going equally well for you! Yeah, the pictures are key. At least you have them now going forward smile

I seem to have hit a plateau with the borax treatment.  My white areas have paled significantly, but are not completely gone.  I've dropped to one treatment a day of the borax solution, plus a baking soda bath every other day. The itching and burning are gone, praise the Lord!, and the white areas aren't really a problem, so I'll just monitor them and if they start to flare up again, I'll go back to 2 times a day with the borax.

Hi, has anyone been able to buy the Borax in the Uk? If yes can you please either advise where and the brand or if you can't post in this forum please can you send me a pm? Many thanks, 😊

From what I've read, most of those in the UK have had to order it on-line. Hopefully someone will have a different answer than that!

Please if you do find or order any offline let me know. It appears to be banned in the uk due to people putting it in their eyes (?!) And while googling it I am scared to buy some of the things Ive seen incase theyre not pure or safe to use down there as none seem to simply say "borax"

Other names for borax: sodium borate, sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate.

But as you've already noted yourself, you definitely don't want to use something that includes anything other than only borax. I hope you manage to track some down!

Thank you so much for this post and all of the updates! I had just seen an article on Borax yesterday and then found this today. I'm so excited to give it a try and praying I have similar results...I have been dealing with this for years and the only time I've truly been free from it is when I was pregnant and then with both of my kids I was good for about 16 months afterwards and then it rears its ugly head again. I'm just glad to have something new to try that's not a steroid because those aren't that effective anyway. Thank you again to everyone who has weighed in, it is SO appreciated!
