At least you're getting enough calcium.  Try to eat little and often.  What about fruit?  Meat and veg aren't that important.  Be happy - most people put ON weight with PMR (some have put on 1 1/2 stone)!!!! and nearly everyone gets a chubby face and a bigger stomach.

I have lost all desire to eat any meat at all... I drink loads of Lactofree milk because the normal sort makes me have cramps. I am eating quite a lot of whole grain and nuts. Plenty of fish in small quantities.

I think the most dangerous food fad right now which is being practiced by the rich and stupid... unfortunately it soon filters down to the rest of us, is eating tissues and toilet paper. What the hell! I even know two children who do this... they are under 10 and I feel horrified for their future health. Their mother eats the equivalent of 1 toilet roll and one box of tissues a day!

I blame the monsterous food industry for this and for many other food related problems and illnesses.

There is some thought that these sort of issues are due to something called "leaky gut syndrome" which allows foreign substances through the gut wall and causes allergic-typr reactions. One cause of this can be autoimmune damage - that is what happens in coeliac disease and lactose intolerance to some extent. I started being allergic to wheat in the early days of PMR and one consultant is of the opinion it is linked, as is the atrial fibrillation I also developed then.

I don't eat wholegrain bread - unless the spelt or rye I eat happens to be wholegrain but don't deliberately seek that out. But I eat nuts and fish.

I've been doing a LOT of reading on this and other food related issues. Right now I'm looking at how sugar and omega 6 are linked to the rise in not only obesity (something I know a bit about) but inflammatory/auto immune diseases. happy to provide a reading list to anyone that interested, although there's a lot on the net - including academic/research papers.

Hi Carol, thank you for that, have not heard of many people like me who really find it hard to eat both on steroids and before I took them, last night for dinner I had motzerella cheese and tomatoes with a slice of bread and butter, the thought of meat turns me over, but have lost no weight only put it on and probaly eat no more than 1000 caleries a day. thank you for replying to me.
