Hi all

I have been on sertraline for 3 weeks I had dreadful diarrhea. I have croans too so this was not good .

I have now started venlaxine since Thursday no upset tummy now ! However I do feel very strange on this med palpitations and unsettled.

Does this subside and in what time frame

Thank you

    Hi,

Have you come off the Sertraline completely and how many days before you started the Venlafaxine (on what dosage)? I had the reverse experience: constipation on Venlafaxine. Hopefully, this won't be your experience but keep your fluid intake up, just in case. Palpatations are one of the side effects I have from the Sert so I wonder if you are experiencing some kind of withdrawal from it. Can you describe the "unsettled" feeling more? Presumably, it is something new. I expert there will be a separate discussion forum on the experiences of starting off on Venlafaxine.

Let us know how you get on. All the best,

      Hi Emma,

I hope the new medication works for you better than the last. We are all different and what suits one may not suit another - it is all about finding what works for you as an individual. Drugs are often just one part of the whole recovery process.

MrSelf, I hope that you are starting to feel better. It seemed quick to be coming off one med and going on to another the next day but perhaps your doctor was happy that you hadn't been on the Sert for too long and it hadn't got too much into your system. I hope you have some good support among your family & friends to encourage you on your journey back to health. You will get there! Believe in yourself :-)

      All the best,

Sorry to hear how things are going for you. Do you have an Occupational Health (or HR) dept at work that could support you. Employers can be very understanding and compassionate if they know what is going on before a crisis hits. Try not to worry too much (easier said than done!) - your health is the most important thing at the moment and needs time and effort to get back on track. Concentrate on the positive things in your life at the moment and be gentle with yourself, otherwise the pressure will hold you back from moving forward. Keep talking to those who care enough to listen to you. Hopefully, you have found some good advice and support on the Venlafaxine discussion threads.

      Good luck & best wishes,

      Hi Emma,

I've read how diazapam can help other anxiety sufferers - how are you getting on taking one day at a time? Thinking of you and hoping that you are finding light and hope in the darkness. You will get your life back because you are still the same person - it's just your brain chemicals that need to be rebalanced. This may take a little time but you will get there - just believe in yourself and don't give up!

      Take care. Big hug. xx
