I've been given promethazine antihistamine for sedation for sleep. Has any one else put on a lot of weight on this or any one know if antihistamine can cause weight gain. I was on mitrazapine n came off it because I piled on the weight too go on to venlafaxine but I can't sleep it's just a vicious circle 😥😫

Hi Karen, how is sleep now? Have you tried your antihistamine tablets yet?

Yeah the antihistamine do work but I'm putting on weight fast 😫 but I need too get some sleep if I don't sleep I become ill if I take my antihistamine I put on large amounts of weight x

mirt is the worse for weight gain, i think all anti depressants can cause it, normally around the 3 month mark, when they are up to speed and working.

Yes. What is strange is that i actually lost weight on mirtazapine. 3 months after starting the ven my weight just started going up
