I have been having hypnogogic hallucinations and severe insomnia. Has anyone experienced this? How did you deal with this? Will I ever be the same happy me? Will this ever go away? I don't take meds because can still cope. I just hate the insomnia and these hypnagogic thingy!! This adds to my anxiety, this insomnia. Please have time to reply. Thank you.

Yes, I have, loads of times. They tend to come in batches, then you get none for ages. The fear of having them is causing the insomnia, I think.

Nobody has invented a drug to cure this - but some therapy would help you to find out why you have hypnagogia, and talking it through will help it to stop.

How to stop this? At first I have insomnia and then this happened. Is this normal? I googled it and I did not like what I read.

It isn't abnormal - lots of people get it. That doesn't mean that you need to suffer with it, though. Please go to your doctor and ask for a referral to a therapist.

I don't think I can go to a therapist. I am working in northernmost pray of Saudi. It's a little city but we have psychiatrist. But they don't have a sleep specialist. I hope this will go and I hope my sleep will get back. Been suffering for two years already.

Hi Vinbux..    are you still taking medications such as Citalopram, desvenlafaxine & mirtazapine?

Hi deb44437... how are you now? I really want to talk to you o know how you are and your experiences and for how long did the meds finally starts to kick in?

My heart goes out to you for stopping your meds..  I did try cutting back without phsyc's advice & paid for it..  PLEASE go  back to your Dr & do what he advises by taking your meds.. Perhaps your elevated sleep troubles are related to withdrawal effects.. These are potent meds you were on ok..

Be patient Vinbux, it takes time for meds to kick in.. dont give in..  be strong & determined..  Im travelling much better these days,  however, I did have doubts about meds working or if they stopped working..  Ive learnt not to play Dr Deb & follow advice

That was 3 mos ago I think. And the sleep problems recur just these 2 weeks. What meds are you on this time?

You need sleep so that you can function more clearly during the day..  Although Im more than ok to sleep 4 hours each night.. Im currently on quetiapine 150mg XR.. mirtazapine 30mg, sodium valproate 1000mg, Keppra 3000mg..  All these meds are through being assaulted 5 years ago & have permanent brain damage to the frontal part of my lobe,  depression & anxiety set in hard 2 years ago..  I waited far to long by thinking it would all pass by & disappear...  Im enjoying life now but I do miss working

I'm sorry to hear that. May I ask what cause your damage in the frontal lobe?
