Anxiety and caffeine

Hi girls just wanted to say I've had a set back this morning, I'm on sertraline for my anxiety that I got with the peri, I was feeling loads better after 2 weeks, I switched to decaf coffee at the same time as taking my tablets, bit this morning whilst I was dog sitting for a friend,I had 2 coffees that wasn't decaf, and an hour later had a massive anxiety attack, so fed up but now discovered caffeine definitely makes anxiety worse x

Haven’t had a period in 11 months. Have had bouts of nausea, right sided headache & anxiety. It’s awful??

    Hi Hayley.

I've been drinking decaf coffee for a couple of years now. I can't drink normal coffee/cappuccino as gives me palpitations! I still like to have the odd cuppa tetley as suffer with low blood pressure and find this helps a little.

I visited an Italian friend recently who made me an Italian espresso... I panicked just looking at it! 😂 she did water it down for me so was drinkable. Think it made me a little shaky afterwards.

Stick with decaf and herbal tea x

How are you with alcohol? Do you find this affects your anxiety?

Hi Dora to be honest alcohol is the only thing that calms me down after a bad episode but because I've been okay for 2 weeks I've not needed or till today it's all very confusing X

Yes in peri I had a couple of really bad panic attacks after caffeine! It did get better for me and now I can take caffeine again but not as much!

    Hi Haley

Im glad that the sertraline has helped. I hear i works well for many. I actually have a prescription for it, as a trial 25 mg. but im still hesitant because ive tried others before and i never give them enough time to work. Im bad about being compliant...i may give them a go as im pretty down.

This is a joke the whole meno/peri/hormone nightmare.

Yes undoubtedly the coffee is the worst for anxiey and it makes everything worse. I happen to LOVE it - one strong breve 4 shot whilte mocha and its so satisfying but my body and nerves can not tolerate any longer.

I cant take alcohol, sugar or coffee, i dont metabolize any of it and just a year ago i was doing all of them with NO problem.

Fill me in on you you are, x0x0x0

    Hi Ladies

    So started HRT 3days now.

Digigel Estrogen gel rubbed on inside of thighs and 100mg Progesterone oral both nightly.

Snag is...I’m having tummy issues thru the night with Pill I think. Giving me acidic and unpleasantness & waking me, if I’m lucky enough to be asleep due to insomnia

& night sweats!  Goes away after getting up and belching/burping & putting a little dry food in tummy. It’s like reflux!

Is it the Progesterone??!!! Anyone have this, will it go away once my body balances out??!! I’m having terrible terrible anxiety and this isnt helping!!!

      hi Haley

this is why they told me to have a mirena coil fitted for progesterone  and then the oestrogen in gel form to rub in.

I am not on HRT but I have pretty bad GERD / Reflux at times.  I am hesitant to try HRT for a few reasons but one of the main ones is that I have read repeatedly that oral progesterone does cause / aggravate it quite a bit.
