Anxiety and/or Chronic Fatigue?

Posted , 49 users are following.

Hi everyone,

I am new to this/any health forum and am looking to share experiences and perhaps pick a few brains on Anxiety and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

I definitely have anxiety and am now wondering if I also have CFS. Or maybe something else?

Brief list of symptoms...

Fatigue (groggy & heavy type tiredness)

Brain Fog

Feeling detached and 'spaced out'

Muscle weakness (especially in extremities and legs)

Sensitive to light and sound

Sometimes feels like I have flu or a bad virus (although I know I haven't)

Feels like I sometimes have a lump in my throat

Light headed

Light dizziness

Easily tired out

There are a few more general symptoms, but the more I read my lengthy list of symptoms, the worse I feel! Ha ha :-D

Brief History...

I have had anxiety issues on and off for many years and also hormone induced migraines. This year the migraines are definitely worse and so too is the anxiety. I had an 8 day brutal migraine early/mid September, followed by 8 days of severe brain fog/fuzzy head. I haven't been the same since. I'm also wondering if my symptoms are migraine related? I've had 2 full blood tests done and 2 urine samples taken. All came back normal/clear and healthy. I've also been to see an ENT consultant and he has ruled out an inner ear virus. He also checked my throat and balance. I had a full eye examination last week and my eyes are in great shape. I have an MRI booked next week and am also waiting an app have an ECG recorder fitted for 48 hours. I have not yet seen a neurologist or anyone else. My Doctor is saying it is all down to anxiety.

Is anybody experiencing anything similar? I feel more anxious not knowing what is happening to my own body!

Any replies/advice would be greatly appreciated... x

I was in the same boat with anxiety and I still get it at times but I've learned to manage it, it took quite some time because I refuse to take any medications. I'm left with extreme chronic fatigue and braing fog, tired eyes like strain n dull headache in eyes, full ears n head pressure at times, low concentration. I just did an adrenal test my naturopath ordered, hoping it will come back soon so we can start a plan to get better. I feel your pain, I had a health scare last year but everything came back normal even my brain mri. Still no answers! The best thing I did was just started one day trusting in Jesus n learning to manage it. I was having chronic breathing issues, but my lungs, heart n oxygen were all normal and I had irregular fast heart rate n palpitations..I still get these at times, but nothing like it was..it was every day all the time for months! Those have now started to regulate. My heart rate was 90-120 resting at the time and nice it's 60-85.

We sound like we're suffering from the same symptoms Ljfaith77!! sad I am on medication but I do doubt them sometimes! One day I'd like to be med free, fingers crossed! One thing that I know does really help though is propranolol which is a beater blocker, some evenings I would just be sitting watching tv and feel racey and my heart rate had been 112 but didn't feel very anxious!

Excuse my ignorance but what's a naturopath and adrenal test? I refuse to google much more as that's how I spiral the anxiety even more by reading the bad stuff!! Xx

Instead of seeing a medical Dr, I now see a naturopath, she helps with natural healing through foods and whole food vitamin supplements and herbs. We have adrenal glands that sit on top of our kidneys, with too much stress, unhealthy diet, toxins and such, they can burn out and notfunction properly which in turn can cause extreme fatigue and other things. An adrenal test can tell how the adrenal glands are functioning throughout the day, once the results come in she can make a plan around the results to get them to function correctly again. Through a naturopath and homeopathy, it's all natural so our bodies can learn to heal the way they were meant to in the first place. I went to so many places, I saw 2 doctors and an ENT and all my results came back normal. There is nothing Drs can help me with anymore and all they want us to throw me on medication and I will not do it. Now that I'm stuck with this and cant get out on my own I decided to see someone for natural healing. Praying this will work, even though it can take a lot of time and diet change. It's a slow process but what can I lose? My heart rate used to do that same thing, anxiety is a killer, so strange it can cause so many things and leave us a huge wreck and then it takes so much time to get back to normal. Praying for you all!

Okay I've been searching all my symptoms forever and finally I feel it's maybe all down to anxiety. A year ago I had a very bad experience with cannabis where I had extreme panic attacks and I thought I died and so much happened that day the ambulance came and everything. So after that night I was never the same. I would often get panick attacks and have constant anxiety and thoughts of death would make me so panicked I would experience sweaty hands, cold sensations, heart palpitations and extreme fear. So now that has improved a lot since last year however I could feel I was getting fatigue over time for no apparent reason. ir wasn't until last month I had a viral Infection which was so bad. I mean it was really bad I thought I had some very bad disease which would kill me (again death thoughts). I went to the A&e three times in such a panic. Had blood tests done and it was all clear. Been to the gp like every week and they said I was fine too after taking bloods and urine samples. I also thought I may have an sti so I got checked at a sexual health clinic and again tests came out all clear.

So my viral infection started with a lump under my jaw. I then experienced night sweats, chills, disorientation, shortness of breath, a lump in my upper neck, Photophobia, panic, fever, extreme body aches and extreme fatigue and extreme dizziness. This lasted 3 whole weeks and every time I would get all sorts of symptoms. So I would panic and go to the gp and sometimes A&E and all they said was it's just an viral infection. Plus before my infection I was constipated and I had bowel problems too. In the 4th week my flu symptoms stopped

It's the 5th week now but I'm still not well my fatigue (which included aching upper arms and legs) has not gone neither have my headache and I occasionally get dizziness and short of breath. I also feel a lump in my throat. I mean I can't function properly anymore I get extremely exhausted after 3 hours of work where I work as a sales associate. My body feels like it's giving up on me. I'm in extreme pain even at this moment. I've got an appointment for an abdominal scan and I want some other scans done too because eat this moment I feel as if I have something which causing all this pain and discomfort. Maybe then I'll be in peace that it's nothing serious and it's all down to my anxiety. I hope it is. However I don't know how to tackle it either.

I hope this helped and if anyone has experienced something similar please contact me.

    Thank you

      Hi Ameli,

I don't often log on, but did so tonight and came across your message. Honestly, that was me last year - I could have written your words and thoughts myself. If I can help in anyway, or you wish to pick my brains, please send me a private message I will pick up. I hope you are able to remain strong and positive. You will get there and you will be okay!

      Hi Mila

Thanks for your reply. Yes, our symptoms sound so similar. I'm trying yoga and relaxation to help with the anxiety. I know exactly what you mean re the sensitivity to light & sound and dizziness, migraines, funny hormones etc... It does help knowing and understanding anxiety and it's effects and also that we are not alone. I have health anxiety too and currently anxious about frequent urination and bladder pressure I've had for a few weeks now. How are you getting on just now? Coping okay without Xanax? I get the lump in the throat/something stuck sensation. Strange what anxiety can do. Hope all good with you x

    Hi Carla

I just came accross this post and it describes my symptoms exactly. Strained eyes, weak limbs, fatigue, can't concentrate, spaced out, sensitive ears/eyes.

I've had blood tests, been on antibiotics (for a recurrent ear infection that was blamed initially), and have just been to an ENT specialist who has just put it all down to 'Eustachian tube disfunction'. I'm on nasal steroids now, but they are doing nothing and yesterday was the worst day ever. The feeling normally comes and goes, but I had it all day yesterday and still have it today.

      Hi Peeps,

I suffer from the exact same symptoms of terrible fatigue, light sensitivity, brain fog/ spaced out, eye strain, dry night sweats, very sensitive to sounds, tolerable anxiety becomes chronic, everything is a physical effort, clear blood test. This is not 100% of the time, about 60%, good days I feel quite energetic (Duration: about 7 years getting gradually worse).

Recently in an act of desperation, I just started pressing points on my head around the temple region, behind the ears. It felt like a lot of blood started rushing to my brain, these painful points started to release and soften, it was astounding, suddenly I could think and move like a normal human being not a zombie.

      POSSIBLE EXPLANATION

I currently have an untreated astigmatism (causes slightly blurred vision). This could cause eye strain, which tightens muscles in temple region restricting blood flow to brain, causing brain fog and all the rest.

I will have an eye test and likely get glasses to treat astigmatism, I will report back if I still need to manually release temporalis muscles around eyes and ears to relieve debilitating symptoms. I have used this muscle releasing method about 6 times and all apart from once it provided near instant transformation.

      MORE DETAILS ON POSSIBLE CURE

Press/Rub/Hold points of good pain around temple region, and go up in a straight line from the top of the ear. About 10-20mins of massage should give some relief, hopefully a lot of relief.

Hopefully this advice can help someone else, we all seem to have the supposedly incurable symptoms, good luck!
