Hi this is my second post on here ! I just feel so un well all the time and don't know what to do ? I've started taking Magnesuium to help me sleep and it is quite good, I hear it was supposed to get rid of anxiety but after a promising start I now feel awful again 😢 uptight, feelings of dread, tearful just generally awful . . . Maybe I  should increas the dose or try something else ?  Anyone else have these horrible symptoms ?

Many thanks

Deb x

I tried the chelated pill and it really upset my stomach. Now I have the magnesium oil spray.

Yes.  Supplements work for some differently or not at all, I have a cabinet full.  But, Shatavari & Maca have helped ease greatly the hot flashes & cry spells. Although,  my hip & elbow joint hurts so bad, it's crippling & I have found no doctor or supplement to help.  MRI's show nothing.

Blood work can really help, since finding out I was ferritin and B12 deficient I have been able to address this and do feel more energetic. Peri to me is like a magnifying glass which highlights all the inblances and worries, use it as a time to reassess things and take good care of yourself. I too hate doctors but there is a lot you can do for yourself.

Hello Debbie, you have my sympathy. I found these forums about ten months ago when I was in a right state. I had struggled with all kind of things even ended up in hospital for 24hrs of observation they thought it was my heart but it turned out to be anxyiety. I've had the dizziness, tiredness, sore boobs dried lady bits (maybe that's a bit too much information) everything that's been talked about on here I've experienced at some point over the last ten years. January this year was a turning point for me. I'd had a terible xmas and new year the worst was my headaches and migraine, they had become unbearable. I went to see a new doctor she was about my age (53) and I think she just understood. I told her I was giving in and wanted HRT. She told me it was too late for that because my hormones especially oestrogen were gone. We discussed my migraines and anxiety then decided to start me on atenolol which is a beta blocker. And as they say the rest is history. I still have a few off days but they don't freak me out anymore, like thinking I'm having a heart attack or a headache that I think is a brain tumour.

So hang on in there Debbie it will get better, it did for me. I even started a new job two nights a week doing 10hrs a night stacking shelves in sainsburys. I couldn't of even dreamed of doing a job like that a year ago.

We need more ladies on here who have come through this and feel human again.

The best advice I can give is find a nice lady doctor about your own age, she might just know what you're going through. Mine even noticed my really dry skin (which didn't even seem a problem what with all the other things I was going through) and gave me some shower gel and a if tub of moisturiser.

    best wishes nanadotty.

      Hi nanadotty

i came through it too, i am just age 50 now, 16 months post meno.

think for me the final year was the worst anxiety wise and the migraines only kicked in on my very final periods..

16 months post meno ( no hrt as not an option for me ) i feel great most of the time, but may still get a blip day..

i have tried tested all the vits and supps over the last 10 -11 years and found what works for me.. I started peri aged 40-41

There is light at the end of the tunnel, well there was for me, cant say we will all be the same, who knows, we all deal with it very differently.

i am lucky i now have a super Gyno and have been confirmed post meno and thorough well woman checks and understanding.

look after yourselves .. Be kind to yourselves ..

      Dear Nanadotty,

Thank you so much for your very informative and kind reply 😊 I feel that I can take some comfort to hear I'm not the only one feeling this bad ! I was offered Beta Blockers but didn't think I would like them ? Maybe I should re think them ?

I'm so happy things have turned around for you, long may last sweetheart.

      Big hugs Debbie x

Hi Debbie, I to refused beta blockers a few years ago. But feeling so rough this year I gave in. They were prescribed as a migraine preventive. The first couple of week of taking them I was a bit light headed but nothing I couldn't deal with. It was about six week in when I realised my anxiety was so much better. So it was great that one pill dealt with two problems. I only take one of the lowest doses once a day and it seems to be enough. If I were you I would really give them a try for a couple of months it to could be your turning point.

Take care and don't hesitate in keeping in touch.

      nandotty
