Anxiety getting me down :(

Does anyone just fear it constantly or feel constantly anxious with racing thoughts going round your head? Butterfly's in my tummy constantly worrying about not getting better from this or feeling the exact same way tomorrow- I've been on citalopram for a week now?

Hi, I certainly experience similar symptoms, along with guilt, depression, poor memory/concentration, mood swings etc. I've been on Citalopram for just over a year, before that I was on Fluoxetine for about 2 years, following "PND" (3rd child!). Fluoxetine helped a bit but I developed ectopic heart beat as side effect so came off for a few months then started Citalopram. It definitely takes the edge off for me -if I stop/miss tablets for any reason my mood turns black and anxiety increases. Also had CBT through NHS last year (4 month waiting list -not too bad, lol) which again helped a little but I think most of us have read self-help CBT type things, so main benefit is talking to someone without burdening your friends and family! I felt after 3-4 appointments I had plateaued.

Had my first psych appointment 1 week ago as not convinced PND is the right diagnosis (won't bore you with all the details!) and worried I'm not going to be able to continue working soon. I've been prescribed quetiapine -anyone any experience/opinions on this? Hope I'm not being disheartening Jinty; there's definitely a seasonal element too. Roll on the spring! smile

Thanks dee tbh I think all mine has stemmed from PND that I never got diagnosed as I was too frightened to say at the time so then I developed bad anxiety and have done now for 6 years but it's been fine, I've been able to control it!! Hopefully CBT will help though, should b starting that soon xx
