Anxiety or epilepsy?

Posted , 6 users are following.

I've had epilepsy very well controlled for years but since being on the change, I have had feelings like I'm going to have a fit (which in effect makes me anxious) so even though (touch wood) I don't have one I'm anxious that I might so this is affecting my social life, it's a strange feeling like I can actually see myself having this fit (not a nice feeling)!

Anyone had anything like this before?

Advice welcomed

hi lesley61388, the good thing about this problem is you already know and understand that there is something wrong. Epilepsy and anxiety are pretty much intertwined. Sometimes anxiety can even trigger a seizure. Now, there are actually a lot of things you can do to prevent this from happening ever again. You can visit a psychologist who is an expert in CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy, this will allow you to change how you think about having a seizure therefore eliminating the anxiety that will follow. Or you can do yoga to keep yourself calm this will help with both the epilepsy and anxiety. Last but not least, I'm not a fan of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs so I would suggest that insted of these why not try alternative medecines or natural remedies. Let me know how you are in the future. I hope this helps.
