Anxiety? Perimenopause? Both? Overwhelming Physical Symptoms.

So....I'll try to be brief. I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder last March, after suffering a panic attack while traveling for business. Since then, I've had a multitude of daily physical symptoms...dizziness/lightheadedness, body aches, headaches, insomnia, night sweats, increased body temperature, feeling weak in my limbs, general fatigue, shakiness....you name it, I've had it. I've just about worn out my welcome at my GP's office, I've been there so often....I've been to the emergency room four times, had an MRI, multiple ECGs, countless rounds of bloodwork, an upper endoscopy...everything comes back clear. So why do I feel so sick all the time? I did have my hormone levels checked, and my doctor confirmed that I'm at least perimenopausal (I'm 45 years old)....could all of these symptoms (and truly, they occur daily) be related to perimeopause? I've developed a serious issue wtih health anxiety due to all of this, because I can't accept that these symptoms are harmless...I'm convinced that something catastrophic is wrong with me. Help!!!

Yes this is all symptoms of perimenopause I experienced the same carnage of symptoms and hospital visits. Camomile exercise no sugar limited alcohol and coffee will help. But just keep telling yourself it is your hormones and nothing else it will balance out eventually just stay clear in your mind it is nothing sinister.

I know this was months ago..but yes it really does suck! I keep saying it's all a part of perimenopause...exhaustion, always hungry, moody, achy, anxious...ugh..so much of this has happened to me so suddenly! Glad I'm not alone in this anyway!!

Please tell me you found out what was going on with you, it sounds way too familiar. For a week on top of feeling bad all time I have been confined to my bedroom I do not want to be around anyone..I have had the sensation of very fine hairs all over my face also for three days. Has anyone ever heard of this?? And the term hot flash don't work for what I feel..I literally feel like my face gets fever then I sweat like hot flashes.

Last year m. Doctor said I had already gone through menopause. ..but that was wrong. Could you have such low hormones when you have chronic fatigue that doctors just ASSUME that's WHAT IS WRONG

Did your doc do labs on you? My NP ran several screens and turns out I was deficient on Vit D and B12. Causes so many similar things that hormonal or menopause can cause. Not feeling better yet but am some relief that maybe that explains why I have been so out of sorts lately.

See some of these are older posts and hope you guys are still following and can update and tell us what worked and what did not.  I am 41y/o and had partial hysterectomy in 2009. I have my ovaries, and thinking maybe it is hormonal. I have felt so bad lately. I had myself convinced I am on the verge of midlife crisis, I have been questioning my career, my marriage, everything. I have never taken an antidepressant but am familiar with anxiety and insomnia. At one time was taking xanax if needed for anxiety but havent used it in years. Lately I am moody, exhausted, snappy. I can't remember anything, I feel bad all over. No real pain, I get headaches and my breasts ache (I have annual mammo and ultrasound bc of cysts)but just dont feel well. I have zero energy or motivation, have put on weight and dont eat any more than normal. Seems like I stay irritated, and I want more alone time now but then feel guilty that I dont spend more time with family (husband, children, grandchildren, my Mom). Go back to my NP this month and going to see about possibly starting an antidepressant but am concerned about weight gain and lack of sexual desire (I already have none). Just good to see others experience similar. Would love to know anything that helped. Thanks

I am taking Wellbutrin for depression. I was taken off of Cymbalta because of skin rash. Wellbutrin doesn't give weight gain. It can make you lose some weight.

So it turns out I went to my NP and she started me on Lexapro. She ran all sorts of labs bc I am really out of sorts. As it turns out my hormones are not crazy. I am borderline hypothyroid, my Vit D is deficient and my Vit B12 is low but not as low. So she started me on weekly supplements of Vit D, and Vit B12 shots every other week. I have been reading up on symptoms and there are so many things that have similar if not the same symptoms. I am praying this will help my issues. I at least feel better to think I am not losing my mind, and the brain fog, exhaustion, weight issues, mood swings, emotional episodes could all be because of this.

      Hi Roderick

I am on Cymbalta, which is an SNRI and it doesn't have any sexual side effects and no weight gain. I just went back on it 5 days ago and am not getting any relief from the anxiety. It used to work before this hormonal nightmare change. I'm hoping it will start to work again.

      Blessings

Perimenopause and menopause can give you bad anxiety because of hormonal imbalances. Perimenopause and menopause can make you feel like you are going crazy , my female doctor has told me this. Look into taking a supplemental hormone medication. Go to your gynecologist ❤️

Anxiety, feeling out of balance like my hormones were off. Skipped my period in October and I never skip it is always early.  This month it came and it was spotting only lasting 2 1/2 days and usually lasts 5 or 6. Irritable also

Thanks for answering! Did you feel jittery and occasionally feel like you needed to take a deep breath? This is all freaking me out LOL

I have to tell myself to relax and that this is part of your body changing now. I know it is weird that we have to go through this!

Oh, me to!!!! My pillow is literally like I poured a gallon of water on it some nights. I have seen some women on here say that b6 and b12 help, have you ever tried that?

No.  I haven’t tried those!  I need to try them. Thanks for telling me this!
