Any good feedback from people on Cipralex ??

Since I joined this forum and the group on Cipralex all I seem to see are negatrive, negative, negative from this drug. I have never been on an anti-depressant in my whole life. But now at 59 struggling with terrible anxiety and panic attacks. It took me a long time since the Doc recommended Cipralex to make the decision to take it. But finally I did. I am on Day 8 only. And I am having some side effects, jitters, nervousness and racing heart here and there. But I would really love to hear some positives concerning this drug, cuz I am now having mixed feelings about my decision. I do want one thing and one thing only is to feel good again, and to feel myself again......

How are things going for you?

      Hi Karin

How have you been. My apologies for taking this long to reply to you. I took a week vacation for my body and self, much needed. Sort of like a retreat from life. All I did all week was read, watched series and movies on TV, and sat on my couch with my dog. It was an amazing blessing. Don't know if you remember but the 20 mg. really gave me a ton of racing heart symptoms and I hated that so I went back to 10mg. After that had no more side affects and started feeling a slight peace and calmness which allowed me to sit on my couch all week and really take in the quiet doing nothing of nothing all week which my body and mind really needed. My anxiety does not allow me to sit for long, and that is how I know something is happening with the Cipralex. Finally, it only took 7 weeks, lol. But I had a follow up appointment with my Doc on Thursday and she wants me back on the 20mg. So I will start on Monday when I go back to work. Don't want to ruin the rest of what is left of my vacation with major sides again. Gotta just ride them out and I know they will go away as they did with the 10mg. But not looking forward to the ride out.....wish me luck......How are things with you ?

    Hi Damom,

It sounds like you have found the dosage that works for you without so many effects. I wish the doctor would encourage you to stay at the 10 mg dose for a while longer before upping it again to 20 mg. You sound so good, and the holiday obivously has been very positive.

You are the olny person living in your body and experiencing the symptons. Would it be such a big deal to stay on the 10 mg dose for awhile, until you feel ready to try another  increase? You have experienced so many negative symptons with the Cipralex at the higher dose. We are each so different when it comes to medications is it possible that you  might flourish on the 10 mg dosage and 20mg is too much for you? (for now at any rate?)

I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that you are feeling calmer, you had a rough go with the medication.  Sorry I've been off the site. I 'm back in Canada after going south to care for my 95 year old mother. Traveling usually wipes me out for a while and I'm just getting my feet back on the ground.

Enjoy this weekend, in spite of the cold weather you are experiencing. Remember that this can be the

      Hi Karin

Thanks for your support as always. I hope things are better with your Grandmother. Where do you live in Canada ? I live in Montreal. Maybe we are neighbors, lol.

Unfortunately as I said about the 10 mg. I have gotten through the side affects, but the good feeling and calmness is very small. Hence why my Doc wants me to go again to the 20mg and ride it through. I do agree with you about everyone being different and maybe I would do well on just the 10mg. But as I said, there is not enough of a tranquility in my body yet on the 10mg. And the whole purpose and goal and decision I made to be on this medication was so that I would have a quality of life and no anxiety. So I feel I am not there yet. Not in a happy zone yet, but getting there.

I'm scared as well to raise mine to 20 mg in fear of side affects.. But I think I need the 20 as I still have bouts of health anxiety.. Good luck to both of you.. ❌❌❌

When do you take your cipralax?
  • Posted

Dear Damom, I have been on anti depressants for a long time but nothing worked like Cipralex. When I started it I had the same side effects as you mentioned but those were actually the illness itself and not the cipralex. So the anxities peaked as I started and within a few weeks everything subsided. Its been close to 2 years now and I feel so much better. Just give it sometime to work...

Hi Kate, iv had my teeth chattering all the time for a week.

      Did your symptoms pass?

Hi Kate, how long did your side effects last?

Are you currently on any medication?

How did you manage for 6-8 weeks of teeth chattering.

My teeth and jaw are aching.

      Are you feeling better now?

It comes and goes I had so many other side effects the teeth chattering was just part of it.

I take 5mg now would love to get to 10 but I can't face all the symptoms again.

I have had jaw issues since being on them and awful short term memory but I also have a couple of other conditions so that doesn't help
