Any good feedback from people on Cipralex ??

Since I joined this forum and the group on Cipralex all I seem to see are negatrive, negative, negative from this drug. I have never been on an anti-depressant in my whole life. But now at 59 struggling with terrible anxiety and panic attacks. It took me a long time since the Doc recommended Cipralex to make the decision to take it. But finally I did. I am on Day 8 only. And I am having some side effects, jitters, nervousness and racing heart here and there. But I would really love to hear some positives concerning this drug, cuz I am now having mixed feelings about my decision. I do want one thing and one thing only is to feel good again, and to feel myself again......

      Hello Jane

There are many other anti-depressants you can take you just have to find the right one that fits you. Like any medication there's always side effects but you just have to ween through them to find out which one is right for you. Just a suggestion which ever one you try perhaps a low dose starting off and then work your way up!

    Hello Damon

I've been on Cipralex for 8 yrs now and have found it's the best so far. Although right now I'm on a low dose only because I'm sensitivve to medications and last time I was on 10mg I found at night time especially I found my eye sight was blurry. But now my anxiety is really bad as well as my depression so I'm going to have to increase it again. Even with the side effects you do get on any anti-depressant the side effects for cipralex are far better than some of the other anti-depressants I've been on.

Hi , we had a terrible tragic family loss and my anxiety and emotional state was so bad I needed to go on a anxiety med.

My Dr put me on Cipralex. Only thing I found was first 3 days I was thirsty a lot. Been 11 days now and I do feel better and have no to little anxiety.

I was in a state that I was going down and this really saved me. I'll stay on it if it means I can get through this crazy life we have to cope with and I'm usually a very happy positive person.

Stick with it Damon. I took this medication for 2 and a half years. I actually felt worse for the first week and a half then I went back to doctor and he doubled the dose to 20mg, he also told me that you almost always feel worse at first. This medication along with some key friends and family definitely saved my life. I know I would have died without it, one way or another it would've ended bad.

Just stay with it and don't read into the side effects too much, only 1% of people will experience them and they go away. Depression is a scarey thing, you're on the mend, just stick with this medication.

Damon, I have only positive feelings about taking Cipralex 10mg once a day. It takes a little time for the effects to kick in, you just kind of notice one day that everything is managable again. I have been taking them for around 3 years now. I took them twice before for just under a year both times with years apart. This helps me see how much better my life just is when I'm taking them.

Everyone is different but I have experienced no side effects, I really enjoy life and feel emotion just not in the extreme way I did before, rationally.

They may not work for you but give it at least two weeks and if you stop read how to do it properly and safely.

    Good luck !

    Hi everyone,

I've been on clonozepam at .5 Mg for over 10 years and I have wanted to wean off for a long time. I notice that my generalized anxiety is starting to get worse and that the medication isn't helping as much.

My doctor wants me to go on Cipralex and wean off clonozepam at the same time. I'm afraid given what I've read about side effects. I'm afraid to go off of this medication that I've been on so long.

Any advice on getting off clonozepam would be appreciated, as well as insights into Cipralex. Thank you. Best wishes for all of you, I totally relate.

    Dear Damom.

I have been taking Cipralex for many years now and have not experienced any anxiety attacks since. You have to make sure that you keep taking them for at least 30 days or more before you see results. It has been a life saver for me.

I hope that you can get the same results because I had some very bad attacks before I found Cipralex.

I hope this helps and I wish you good luck.

    Hi everyone,

I have general anxiety/ panic and fear of being in big crowds, planes, concerts etc. I found myself starting to avoid these things and only feel safe at home. I just recently spoke to my doctor about this last week, and this has been going on for over 6-8 months, I just thought it would pass.

He prescribed me cipralex and counselling. I'm 24 years old and a full time student and I'm so scared to be taking an antidepressant. Is it hard to come off this medicine? I've literally been staring at the bottle everyday trying to decide if I should take it, giving myself anxiety over anxiety medicine lol but I just don't want to rely on it and be worse to come off of it. Can anyone help me with this answer ?? If I was to take it I'd only want to take it for a couple months 1-2 maybe.

I've also been going to yoga, and the gym 3 times a week.. I start counselling next week for the first time ever. No idea what to expect, very nervous

    Thanks everyone

Hi Shan79808 , sorry to hear about your high level of anxiety. As I talk to more people and my patients day to day I work in the medical field I hear this. I recently was on cipralex for my anxiety and sadness for losing my niece to suicide . I felt my anxiety and emotional state was so severe I needed help with medication and was going to coucilling .

Definitely helped levels you out , I was only on it for a few weeks then went off since it helped and I was working on myself as well.

Having high levels of anxiety is not a way to live my niece suffered with this as well.

I've talked to people saying they skipped a day then more etc when weening off and had no problems . I had no problems either.

I was only thirsty first 2-3 days but just give your self a week and see how you feel.

I don't want to be on anything unless my life is severely going down which then we all need help with this high stress crazy world we have to cope in.

Hope this helps. I hope you go and do what you want too. Gets easier as you get older in life with crowds been there too. I'm 50 and have no social anxiety. Growth helps too smile

I been on cipralex for 4 years now. You most always get side affects at the start but they were worth the outcome. Cipralex really works for me and after the side affects go away after each dose increase it's wonderful to not feel miserable!! I was scared to take anything too. But I'm sure happy I gave it a try. Just don't over think and stress about it! You got this!!! 😊

I was admitted to the hospital 3 times in 2015 for major depressive disorder.

I finally tried Cipralex in June 2015 and all I can say is that it is an answer to my prayers!

Everyone told me that there is no miracle cure or drug but they were wrong. Other drugs didn't help

but they do for some. I am SO thankful for Cipralex and Ativan helped too. ??

I was started on cipralex 4 yrs ago. I was apprehensive about taking any antidepressants but with thyroid trouble anxiety started with depression ( my thyroid was burnt out with radioactive iodine over 10 yrs ago) I remember I was started on 5mg then up to 10mg. After two years it was increased to 15mg as I started menopause. Each time the dose was increased I did have side effects but they do level out pretty quick. Recently a new doctor started me on another med. but oh jeez it wasn't good at all. I had side effects worse then the very overactive thyroid!! I'm finally getting back on cipralex. I know it worked for me and hope it helps the hotflashes!!! I'll be on 20mg by the end of 3 weeks. Best of luck for you! 😊

Day 1 of cipralex for me..doc gave me 10mg but pharmacist recommended taking half a pill for about a week at night to help lessen the side effects..then gradually up it to the full 10 mg..I am taking this for anxiety and panic attacks which just started up recently..I have had this in the past over 5 years ago. It got it under control..or though I thought lol..I have a lot of issues from my past..like sudden death of mother, less than a year later divorced. Now fast forward to present I have a 5 month old daughter which is the best thing I could of asked for is being a father..but I do think the new parent has triggered my anxiety again..I've debated for the past few months to try and beat it on my own or take the cipralex..and finally caved last night..wait and see I guess how it works or if at all..I do have larezopam which I only use if needed..like during an attack..all thoughts and comments welcom

Hi Brad. I have battled bad anxiety attacks years ago until I found Cipralex. It has been a blessing for me and I am now free of anxiety.

I am taking 10mg every night when I go to bed with no side effects. It took a few weeks to kick in but I am feelin just fine. I hope that you can get the same results and wish you good luck.
