Hi All, in January had virul tonsilitis and then chest infection, was given antibiotics which seemed to help, but ever since then I have been getting pain down the centre of chest, it radiates across right breast and into right back area, occasionally in left, when I press all down from throat to the middle of ribs the bones hurt and it hurts across top of both breasts. The pain is what I would call raw like when you have a really bad cough and it gets sore. I have an intermittent cough which is more of a tickle and as if my breath has caught so I cough to relieve this. There is also mucus but does not come up just stays in throat. It comes for a few days then goes and comes back again with the pain in right top chest area constant. GP said nothing on chest, but have not been again for a few weeks as worried it might be lung cancer which my mum died from at 54 which is younger than I am 56, she did smoke, but I worked in pubs, night clubs and have been subjected to passive smoking up until about 30 years ago not much since then. I do have reflux but this is not GERD which I am being constantly told it is as no amount of PPI, DGL licorice, Gaviscon touches this pain. but paracetamol and ibuprofen do temporarily. Am going to make an appointment for GP tomorrow but wanted to hear from anyone with similar symptoms. I am not being sick, no losing weight am just fed up with it. I have had other antibiotics as well for a skin problem and they have not helped either.

For this reason the correct thing to do is to see your GP about this and stop guessing/ stressing.

If this is the case did he send you for tests prior to saying you were clear, or did he not send you for tests at all?
I am not trying to unhelpful, as I am actually attempting to be quite the opposite.
What really concerns me is that your questions seem to be pointing in the direction of cancer when your doctor says your chest is clear, and I find that confusing.

You do have the right to get difinitive answers, so I am tempted to agree with you that you should get the opinion of another doctor, and if deemed necessary have tests to determine what is actually causing your problem.
If it was me, I would not give up until they gave me a convincing answer.
