Hi Fern and everyone! Well still same here but now with the worst itch, seeing urogyno tomorrow as my gyno suggested. Tests after tests I keep telling drs are you sure its not bugs? Wondering if its the dryness or the estradiol, or the creams they give me to use, been on Diflucan, can't get this to end !

i'm the same up five times during night and burning, feeling so sore and uncomfortable in my bladder. I don't bother discussing it with my GP's any more they are not interested. I would have to wait a year for a gynacologist. I think mine is back because I started using baby bath to wash with again and stopped doing exercises. One thing I do know is since starting the estriol cream I haven't had one UTI Better not say that in case I get one but its a year since I had a UTI.Have plenty symptoms of UTI all negative Do you feel its worse at night and that you can put up with it better during the day.

hope we all get better feelings in that area especially at this time of year

      Hi Olive

Are you using the cream at night right before getting into bed? I insert the Vagifem at bedtime.

      Olive

Are u up a night peeing or just discomfort. Perhaps its a uti. I have insomnia and trying to wean off klonopin . It can be hell. About three weeks ago my dr. put me on imvexxy 2 x week. I feel a little better. not sure it is that or the shot in my thigh he gave me of estrogen. How old r u Olive and where do u live. Try to hang in there. This is a hideous condition. if its in your bladder sounds like a uti. please write back and let me know. i so feel for u and everyone who suffers with this.

I dont have a UTI the estriol cream has fixed that at the moment I did have constant UTI's but I really think my bladder has something not right. NO I am up five times at least with just a few drops sometimes but it eases the pain even if just a little. It's not really pain its just a really uncomfortable feeling in my bladder. It gets I can't stand it. I am 70 and live in Scotland but we are all the same. I do think the estriol has helped me though but we are all different. It's been a terrible journey the stinging and burning and everything else.

      How are you getting on

My doctor said it was life long can you imagine what it will be like when we are really old. Nobody would care here and getting the cream in would be a nightmare

Hope you are getting back to some sort of tolerable life

Olive i am no doctor and forgive me for repeating myself but it still sounds like a uti. U can still have one while using estriol. perhaps if u feel something is wrong with your bladder u should go to a urologist. Before they figured out I had VA urologist put me in hospital and i had a cystosomy and they looked at my bladder. At the moment i am feeling ok but that could change in a moment. i dont know if it was the shot in my thigh of the estrogen or the imvexxy which is estridiol. i have a bunch of medical issues that im trying to get fixed. live in US Arizona and I still work which can be a challenge between the discomfort when it its and lack of sleep. u said u were doing exercises, what were they.

Hello update , been to urogyno, checked bladder etc ok but still itchy, told dr he just says continue the estrogen cream and gave me a pill to try for amitriptyline i think called but can't take didn't like how it felt ugh. Asked can i be allergic now to this cream his answer we will see in a few weeks So annoying ! Well fed up here and especially after bill came in for er and the hospital dr not in coverage

yolanda I take amitriptyline have done for years,, supposed to help a multitude of different things, nerve damage being one of them. I take it for anxiety because of issues around diabetic son driving and I couldn't cope with him not testing before he drove his car. It took about six weeks to work but it does work, relaxes you and just generally puts things to the back of your mind. I take 25mg - was told it is a highly effective drug and taken in small amounts gives you a lot of protection. Not sure about AV though..

i dont think I will ever be completely free of this

Glad it helped you, but Im too sensitive thats my problem with medicines, always something

I am too and it was a real struggle to get used to the amitriptyline but eventually managed. I was ruining my health with being so anxious and worried all the time and it was affecting my family too me being in the state I was in. The amitriptyline has, no doubt about it, helped me..

I just wish I could get rid of this VA its not good just now

i am WENDY and use half the applicator twice a week because of the whole one falling out but some of the half falls out too first time I go to toilet after inserting it. I use YES VM too but don't think its much use. i was thinking of going back to whole applicator once a week. Do you use more than once a week. It's awful my granddaughter gets married DEC 19 and unless there is a dramatic improvement I will be more often in the toilet than anywhere else. There was a while everything in that area was shrunken and flat but seems to be a bit better now but still doesn't help my bladder. Happy days and nights right now, am a bit fed up too of it.

I was so disgusted yesterday I GOT UP AT 2.20am this morning and gave myself a whole applicator of estriol I was up time after time the night before and all day yesterday so decided to do that. IT didn't reduce me getting up and it didn't feel better either so this morning I used caneston hydrocortisone cream and it feels better. I haven't done anything or used anything that would make it return like this- have just hsd visitors arrive will message you later

      Dear Ladies

i have read over these blogs and feel so badly that there is confusion and suffering......The most important thing is that VAGINAL ATROPHY IS LIFELONG and we cannot stop and start our meds. As mentioned my doctor started me on ESTRACE cream for 2 weeks, then he had me switched to VAGIFEM 2 x a week. it took several weeks to a month for the vagina to heal to feel normal again......but you have to stick with it and not stop!!!!!. Depending on the severity some women need to increase VAGIFEM to 3 x.....some ladies need more. a friend of mine needed 5 x week....but increasing is up to your doctor to increase. I am 67 and have been using VAGIFEM for over two years now.....and a Blessing that i have been able to feel normal most of the time. i like the VAGIFEM as its in a pill form that you insert right before you go to bed and it absorbs so there is no leakage as some of you experience with the cream......another lady on here SUKI likes a compound cream. Please ladies this is unfortunately life long so we MUST take the meds EVERYDAY. Please do not get discouraged as i mentioned it does take several weeks....some a month or more to finally feel normal. WE cannot stop on and off this!......trust me, I KNOW as IN THE BEGINNING WHEN I STARTED TO FEEL NORMAL I TRIED TO BACK OFF ON THE medication and the horrible pain and discomfort started back again and took weeks to get back to feeling good again. I remember before the VAGIFEM I felt like I had a UTI all the time and went back and firth to the doctor for urine check only for them to come back negative .....then went to GYN and found help. and was diagnosed with Atrophic VAGINITIS. I did get many UTI's before getting help. the VAGIFEM helped me to stop getting them. The key is to not get constipated as that can bring on a UTI even with meds. JUST NEEDED TO SHARE? We are all in this together. i dont know why we all have this but it can be controlled Lord willing.

Wendy is right, don't stop taking the vaginal estrogen (unless advised by your dr because you have adverse effects) - if it is working for you, don't stop taking it or you will be back to square one with the atrophy. It is not a cure, it treats the symptoms.

Thank you Wendy for encouragement with this, we need positive words to cope at times, with our ups and downs

      hello everyone

how are you all doing? I was absolutely tired this morning I was up six times and when I got up for my shower - with bathroom trips during the night, between 9pm and 5am this morning - I have no infection, I didn't overly drink tea, coffee or anything else in fact I wouldn't say I had much to drink at all so that's not the reason. I still take my estriol cream once a week. WHAT NOW? it doesn't feel good the burning and stinging and bladder feeling are still there. I used YES VM for moisturising last night and dont think it helped at all. I was blaming the moisturiser anyway and it seems much worse during the night.

I hope you are all finding a way to get through this especially at this time of year I think of you all.

Hi Olive , Im up late, so im always making the bathroom trips too, the moisture little better, but i think the applicator for the estrodial is annoying me too. Going to just try putting in opening not all the way like dr says maybe . Even drs don't know, im told different from all ive seen lol but I itch after i use it the day after so I don't know what ill do . Afraid to try something that might even be worse. Its always something with me . I think about us all too, and read through the comments, much the same, some days relief other days not

you know Yolanda when mine is at it worst even after using the estriol the night before it never feels really far up and when I am getting the burning and stinging next day I often rub some estriol in everywhere and it often helps. sometimes little things that help others are helping us too. I do sometimes feel mine is worse during the night straight after I use the estriol. You know from the day I just happened to say to the doctor who was in seeing my son that I was feeling as though I had a constant UTI and had been feeling like that for a long time and tests were negative. He immediately said I had vaginal atrophy and gave me estriol and told me how often to use it and from that day to this it has never been mentioned again. If it hadn't been for this forum and everyone here with the same thing I would have been struggling. If I said anything about it to him now he wouldn't know what I was speaking about.

Hi im on hrt and due to stress alot of it the past year, my estrogen has dropped low( the body uses it for stress). I have been told that when my hormones rebalance my vaginal dryness and soreness will be better as its lack of estrogen that causes it. since upping my hrt patch it is getting better but will take 6 to 8 weeks to balance. I hope i then dont go into estrogen dominance.I also visit a site called a womens guide to surgical menopause and find that there is alot of information on here things that maybe we are not told by our gp .
