Any one had a Dexa scan that showed improvement in bone density from the previous Dexa Scan?

What medication had you been taking prior to this improvement please?

Appreciative of replies.

Great news folks  I have just heard I have improved bone density in both right hip and spine but the left hip has gone from -2.4 to -2.5 (osteopenic to osteoporosis)

Spine improved by .2 from -2.8 to -2.6 and right hip incredible from -2.6 to -2.3

So it is possible, I was scanned on the same machine afterall.

Now the trick is to maintain this or improve on it further, but of course there is always the possibility it can get worse again.

Bone thinning is inevitable with age so I am told and I've also been told its highly unlikely to have an improved bone density.

Good luck to all keep doing what works.  Thanks to everyone for sharing their thoughts and experiences.

    Best wishes V

Hi Vee,  You're back!!   I'ts great to hear of your new results - you must be really relieved. Now stop worrying and continue doing whatever you're doing as it seems to be working well !   You're nicely set up for Summer now - so keep healthy - with no need for bone meds.  Check yourself again in 2 years.

      Kind thoughts,  J

Thanks Juno, yes, I do supplement one calcichew D3 Forte tablet for the bones and I have this past winter upped my dose of additional D3 supplement to 2000 IU daily, my vit D test results were only at 62% last month so I think I would have dropped below range if I had only taken 1000 IU daily.

      Best wishes to you

I had an increase many years ago while taking liquid vitamins and minerals from Eniva. The minerals were called "cell ready". For some reason, I could not keep myself in a habit of taking them, so I finally quit ordering them. The other time I had an increase was after taking Forteo shots.

Just had another Dexa... Had a decrease after being off of Forteo for 2 years. :-(

      Hi Jill

Not sure if you are monitoring but your post to Anhaga was deleted by the moderators.

Uh oh... Did I do something I wasn't supposed to?  Oh boy....  I guess I mentioned "that company" that I had used their supplements.  Is that a no-no?

That's probably it, this is a commercial site run using the revenue raised by advertising and whilst you can use company names in private messages, the moderators take a dim view of posts with company names in them.

I never see any advertising here.  Does my software work so well I even know it existed? I believe the real issue is that the site is actually based on initiative from the medical profession so they do not want anything promoted which could be questionable from the point of view of the standard allopathic medical profession.  This is more to protect us, as they percieve it, than to protect any advertisers.  But I could be wrong.

I received a private message from the mods a while ago and there the reason given was as I stated. Seems reasonable so I went along with it but I like your explanation as well. I get regular advertising with my free subscription, I would have to pay to not receive it. I actually am rarely aware of it and have an almost automatic block.

Oh okay, that is interesting, and I am rather disillusioned.  Why, then , am I not allowed to use the word describing a nearly legal plant remedy.  The plant is sometimes used to make a famous fibre as well.  Surely that isn't interfering with paid advertising.  However, now that you mention it, I remember seeing ads when I had to use my playbook when away on holiday, but my laptop has a piece of free software on it.....

The only advertising I see is from my own internet searches!  things I have purchased, and done searches on, shows up as advertisement along the side!

My guess would be that what I was told is only the part of the reasons that the mods intervene. Their detection software probably has lots of trigger words that guarantee human intervention.

Well, I just got moderated, but the only things I was talking about were items, not product names, that Jill had used in her unmoderated post.  I think this is getting really ridiculous.

Oh so sorry Jill, you had a decrease after 2 years off Forteo.  Will you try something else?  There are quite a few seem to do allright on Prolia (Denosumab) as this I had investigated and got feed back on from another site.  I was seriously considering it if my bone density worsened this passed scan.

      Vee,

I guess I ought to look at that again.  I did not long ago, and the side effects didn't make me too happy.  I am adding K2 becaues I didn't know about that, for sure.  I have also added bioidentical hormone therapy.  I am wondering if I haven't forever been low on necessary hormones to build bone.  No way of knowing, but I certainly wonder!!  Bioidentical hormones are very safe.  I am seeing a new OP dr. on Thursday....  we'll see what they say.

jill, you may want to ask your new doctor to be tested for hormone deficiency and if you are medically suitable you may be able to have that treated which can for some people also help treat the osteoporosis.

      Vee,

I have been working with a doctor trying to get those levels figured out.  Had testing done in December, and then I just had them done again two weeks ago.  I am in hopes it will help with the Osteoporosis for sure!  The dr. I saw two weeks ago, and the one today are both checking Thyroid levels too.  The one two weeks ago, didn't do as much as this dr. today wants to do, so I'm glad they are doing extensive testing...even an ultrasound.

No, I did not.  The dr. today, though, is suggesting Prolia.  I need to do research!!!!  UGH!!!
