Any positive prolapse surgery stories out there?

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone happens to read this who has a positive story about long term recovery from prolapse surgery? There are a lot of scary stories about surgery but I would love to hear from any one who is happy with their surgery and if possible what type of prolapses/procedures they had. I'm planning to have surgery soon and just want to be 100% sure I choose the right procedure. Ive researched for ages and decided to spend the money and go private (gulp, lots of money!) but it has been like trying to make a decision in the dark- lots of horror stories, conflicting advice from specialists and I dont know of anyone who has had the surgery so I can ask them.
Thank you, any info appreciated!

Hi can anyone help. I'm 63 and in April 2017 I had a full hysterectomy and bladder repair which was stitched up by keyhole surgery. All went well absolutely no pain and felt amazing after having a full prolapse for 10 months. Unfortunately a few months later I have a prolapse again. I have been advised to have a repair by keyhole using a Titanium mesh. Stitching it to my sacrospinus.I have read horror stories of women who have had mesh repairs. My surgeon is an expert of pelvic floor repairs but I'm still really scared and unsure what to do. I have been told that I can live with it as it's fine as long as I do very little. But if I am on my feet all day it drops. Also if I do have the operation can I live a normal life? Thanks in advance

Hi Heather,
You would be better posting a new message with this to get more replies as this is an old thread.
I previously had a hysterectomy & anterior repair in 2013. I now need a rectoenterocele repair with repair to perineum which I'm having done in November. I am also having a sacrospinous fixation but with a stitch not mesh. Not sure if this is similar to you. Maybe you could ask about having a stitch?
There are other ladies on here who have had similar procedures.
Good luck.

I am only in the middle of week 6 & I’ve had penetrative sex once. We were scared because I’ve read so many suggestions to wait waaay longer. I had no pain and had that magical sensation I used to get. 😁 I’ve noticed my stitches are coming out a little at a time and are almost dissolved. I never thought I would be ready for sex this early but we only do it once a week so it’s all good. I am so happy with my surgery. If you read any of my earlier posts you’d see that I was extremely doubtful and skeptical of the entire surgery. Words can’t explain how confident I am now.

I was told not to have sex for the first 6 months. My operation meant that I might or might not be able to have sex due to tightening of the vaginal wall and depth due to the operation I had. I don't have any pain but was told by specialist that initially I might have pain. As I don't have a partner and am not sexually active its not an issue, but I do have pain still in that area when washing

i had anterior and posterior repair two years ago. It lasted for about three months before it prolapsed again. I had it done again by a urogynecologist almost two months ago. the recovery has been difficult and painful and i feel like the drainage will never stop. If this one goes bad i guess ill have to live with it
