Anybody had vasectomy reversal fix erection issues/erectile dysfunction ???

Hi im a 30 year old male that had a vasectomy in january 2013 (10 months ago)

I've been having ED (erectile dysfunction) for the last 1-2 months. Sometimes I'm able to attain a weak erection, my penis is noticeably softer than it was before all of the issues I'm having. After orgasm my penis looses girth almost immediately. Furthermore I'm UN able to continue with intercourse even with a rest of 30 or so mins, I have always been able to go multiple rounds of intercourse with my wife without any issues previously. I have always been very sexually active without any issues what so ever. This issue us really causing me to feel low and my wife is concerned for me, which is impacting on her ability to be comfortable during intercourse. I'm considering a vasectomy reversal due to this. My doctor has arranged the usual blood tests, i.e to measure testosterone levels etc. I'm yet to receive the results. I can only maintain an erection through intense physical stimulation. I previously only needed to be visually stimulated, this is very frustrating for me. Furthermore im only able to maintain an erection during vaginal penetration whilst im on top of my wife with my wifes legs are pushed up and back, as this gives me more sensation in my penis.. i struggle to maintain an erection when my wife is on top or if we do it whilst i'm behind her.

Im totally aware that those within the medical field will be totally dismissive of the vasectomy procedure being the culprit for my ED issue. However im a believer that not all people fit into the same category within current research, as we are all unique and no two people are exactly the same. Not all people's bodies will always react in the same way to the same situation.

Is there a way back from this mess without the use of drugs ??

Last night I failed to have an erection, even through intence visual and physical stimulation. I had consumed alcohol and did feel tipsy, I have always found alcohol enhanced my erections and sexual desire. This was very shocking for me. Due to this I reluctantly took 50mg of a viagra type pill that was prescribed by my doctor. It took well over 1 hour for it to work, I was able to have the best erection I've had I months. I don't want to take drugs to combat this issue, I'm becoming very depressed due to this.

Has anybody out there had this issue resolved by having a vasectomy reversed??

I'm concidering having it reversed to hopefully fix my erection issues. Furthermore I feel as if my testicles have atrophied (shrunk in size) somewhat since the vasectomy. If there is scar tissue and atrophied testicles etc or general damage to my genital area could my body heal the the damaged tissues etc through having a reversal??

any information would be greatly appreciated, and many thanks in advance .liam

I have been experiencing ed too, I'm now ashamed and depressed I'm now single but I can't even bring myself to starting a relationship as who wants a guy who can perform! My penis has definitely shrunk significantly! My gp assured me only side effect was aching!! I'm furious but it's too late now. Has anyone had a reversal and has it worked? I've been too ashamed to discuss until now as I'm 36 and used to be solid as a rock and happy with my sex drive and so was my previous girlfriend.

I self medicate testosterone boosters in hope that they may help which occasionally they do (or so I hope!) I just don't know what to do 😞😞😞😞

I go to bed suicidal and I hate it!

Hang in there as things can improve.

Sadly though, like many of us, you've found GP's & Dr's lie about the extent of damage and harm, both physically and mentally, their safe and simple preocedure can inflict.

I've had ED issues (as part of the PVP) since about 6-8 weeks after the vasectomy, which was 4 years ago.

It took nearly 3 years to persuade GP to run bloods for testosterone levels and they were very low and now fluctuate between low and very low.

The 1st consultant I saw was basically an idiot! He prescribed viagra even though I clearly said there is no desire which meant I could eat the viagra like sweets and nothing would happen.

However on the rare, very rare (2 in last 3 months) there have been stirrings of an erection I will confess the viagra did help but that didn't address the base issue with the testosterone.

I've now seen the endocrinology consultant who agreed levels were far to low for my age and is now running a battery of tests (MRI / DXA etc) once the tests are complete she will then prescribe testosterone replacement therapy which in theory will beging to put things back in order and hopefully desire will come back as well as the ability to initially get and then maintain an erection.

It may well be that your testosterone levels have also taken a hit in which case you need to get GP to run bloods and if the result is out of range ten you'll need to ask for a referral to a consultant.

I'd be very wary of self medicating with items off the net. You don't know he source, you don't know the ingredient make up, you don't know if the ingredients are actually in the product or if it is fake or genuine - of course if you are buying from an online pharmacy then they should be ok but then that would require script anyway. Highly recommend seeing GP.

It is horrible but kep your head up, things can improve even if only slightly

I'm 61 had a vasectomy at least 20 plus years ago. Did it affect or diminish me ? Yes was it physical or is this something that subconsciously creeps into our brain of feeling less a man , I believe it is both , further a GP is not I repeat not a urologist and should not under any circumstance perform this operation ! If he did it in his office and other doctors are in this practice sue all of them . File a formal complaint with the AMA ,SEE a specialist in microsurgery that does reversals and get a real diagnosis they see paitients from other doctors who have botched the procedure , you may well be fixed . Further his report can be used against the clown who did this. I Justin had a reversal done 7 days ago I have some complications , for me very painful do I feel better . Yes I feel empowered like a man again another week before I see if what I believe I feel is real but I feel like the old MIGHTYDOG again. Now I'll tell you I'm not ordinary by any means , I could still go for several hours , was my size diminished , yes son did I experience any ed , YES some was I not as hard yes . But in consideration at the time my wife then was not much of any kind of satisfaction and desire of her well I worked that right out of my mind. Staying power well here's what I learned from something I read a very long time ago. If your mind is on what your doing, solely focused only on that , well good luck my friend when you can get it up you'll be minute man. So this took much thought and concentration. 1have confidence 2 think about something else football whatever just not your wife moaning the motion or whatever puts you over the edge.DONT AND I REPEAT DONT ONCE YOU can master this teqnique carry it too far as you can mentally over desensitize your self then difficulty having orgasm I knowi was there hard to reprogram that thought process . Why did I learn that well simply I love to give a women multiple orgasms .back to now yes I feel very different not just mentally but an actual physical change . I do not believe what they say . My current wife is 35asian sexy very beautiful most desirable , she can't for the life of her figure out how or where I get all this power . Well I tell you this you must see yourself doing it and doing it well and you must believe you can if you don't or cant well you've defeated yourself before you've even tried . VISION SEEING YOURSELF BEING ABLE TO , confidence andbelief learn a true deep breathing exercise this enriches the oxygen level and blood flow research food for virility there are many relax and rid yourself of stress .i know a tall order but what have you gotta lose? Empower yourself !

I had my vasectomy about twenty years ago and I enjoyed the sex very much. However; for the last couple of years my libbido has gone down and hardly get an erection. Some time I get erection out of a blue moon and can have sex three days in arow but it goes away. I ready that watermelon is a natural viagara and raisan also helps. I did try these things but they only help temporarly. After reading all these letters I am thinking about making an appointment with an urolgist and check this out. I miss sex and it is also very frustrating.

The original poster had their vasectomy ten months ago and others replying have had issues recently.

PvP, which can cause many issues, usually kicks in between procedure and ten years later. You had your vasectomy twenty years ago so I suspect your issues aren't related to PvP or the vasectomy.

There are many reasons why man can get ED, stress or other psychological reasons or physical trauma for example.

Before trying to get to urologist you'll need to to have good chat with Dr to ensure you're getting the right referral. It can weeks to get referral and the last thing you want or need is to waste time seeing wrong consultant.

Reversals can work. I have been reading forums like this for 2 years trying to find answers to my husbands issues. Now I'm here to give you our experience and outcome.

Immediately after his vasectomy, everything changed. His erection, his size, his orgasms etc. It took me a while to convince him it was the vasectomy but after reading the stories to him that were so similar, he was shocked and finally believed me. So, I found a great place that does reversals without putting him out, which saves a lot of money and risks. The procedure was a piece of cake (only a couple of ouch moments). Nothing like the vasectomy, which was horrible for him. On our way home he already popped a chub. We still weren't sold it had fixed anything but that was a great sign. He also noticed right away that the pain he'd felt all this time, was gone. We are only a week post reversal but he seems back to normal. Says he feels "horny" again. If things change I will give updates but for now, we are happy with the results.

I also would strongly recommend you don't believe everything your Dr tells you. When it comes to this issue they refuse to admit the vasectomy has any affects like these. They only read fact sheets instead of the THOUSANDS of experiences posted by real human beings. I finally found a post with a successful reversal story and that's why we went for it.

Side note. I have done so much research that I have figured out on my own that you SHOULD NOT wear tight underwear for too long after either procedure. Your boys will heal in a way that it will hurt when you do let them hang. A few days after should be plenty.

I can't say all of this will fix everyone's "worst mistake of their lives". I also can't say if the issue was physical or mental, or maybe both. I can only say that it seems to have helped us. Good luck to the guys that are having issues.

      Glad it went well.

I won't be having further surgery as lefty can't be reversed as all my plumbing had to be cut out in a second op. I've been offered reversal on the right but have refused as surgery just makes things worse. I'm on testosterone replacement now due to the damage. Main issues are constant pain. 4 and a half years of it.

I'm a 42 yr old male and had a vasectomy about 8 years ago. I too have had ED issues somewhat about the same time I had the procedure. I'm also a diabetic and personally have dismissed my issue that that medical condition. I'm now realizing that this is an issue other men also have experienced and am considering going back to the surgeon that did my procedure. Why is it that everyone says hat it's not a related issue "vasectomy and ED"

I really thought my ED was related to my vasectomy reversal, but I have since overcome it. I actually tried a lot of things, including talking to a counselor. There may be a direct causaual relationship between ED and vasectomy surgery, but for me at least it was not permanent.

Hi I'm 61 Justin had reversal done was really painful a week off from work at least . So did the vasectomy have any side effects . Nothing major less drive , but I was not normal man to start I've always been both easily aroused and duration like no man I've heard of . That part is partly mine over matter your minds not on what your doing you can last a very very long time . Ok getting back to you , your diet likely quite unhealthy typical American diet . Exercise is more important for no but no supplements help . I started taekwondo at 47 damn it made me like a tiger . Most men will at some point have ed issues stress worry financial issues diet and the overbearing stress of working can I get it up . At 47 I was feeling like I was beaten by a bat when I woke up . This was my body saying hey a*****e you gonna die young! So a major life change of diet exercise no taekwondo almost 5years . Well first 6 months was tough I won't lie I hurt from the hair down ,a real class no yuppie crap. About 8 months I felt better than I did at 30 and certainly no n bed like super man. Energy . I read about a man who was in such poor health he couldn't have surgery clogged arteries well he started with many pills but the one thing he did right was dark berries . I use frozen blackberries strawberries raspberries cranberries dark cheries blueberries put them in my Nina with milk or half and half I need the dairy no sugar and that helps . Bananas asparagus and many others like oysters will help pomegranate salmon and much more . Relax change your life ,your health , diet exercise and become young again the body can heal itself stay away from soy any kind real bad for you.

So I just had reversal done and 5 days ago still hurts but I am waking to erections so I say yes it matters yes I feel a big difference. Maybe most is mental , I don't believe that for even a moment . It subdued me , the vasectomy that is . . You must relax and empower yourself change and feel young again I'm 61 haven't worked out really in about7 or8 years but my arms still 16" biceps yes I'm not normal many young guys have arm wrestled me none won even this huge Vietnamese guy never saw one that big . Change feel good about you work hard to change your life I did and this was the best thing I ever did. I work in a shipyard hard work weekends if I can find work I do construction remodels my doctor asked what I do I told him shipyard mon to fri and sat sun I do construction he says with a puzzled look but your 61. Me ya so always worked a lot. Without exercise in 4 hours bending over I'll walk like I'm 95 no lie , I've many old injuries debilitating ones , exercise gain confidence , get your power back , my nickname is mightydog for good reason. Good luck take this to heart change your life and your destiny I did . My wife is 35 and is amazed at my power touches me I'm up.

My dear friend, The doctors will tell you that is not going to affect your sexual performance or Libido . Every one system is different that's a fact . They can do millions studies but just as DNA is unique so is your body . I just had my first attempt at a Vasectomy Reversal . My sexual performance and ED went away . My suggestion to you is get it done as soon as possible . Don't waste time .  I wish you well my friend . Best Regards .

Had a  vesectomy done when 25. No problems at all. Then had it reversed at approx the age of 32.

Had it reversed at the age of 32. A year after that started having ed problems that slowly got worse. Combated with pills , Viagra, but now these hardly ever work. Docs just fob you off saying nothing to do with reversal !!!! I am now 57 !

I am going to new doc in 4 weeks time to ask for a app to see a urologist. Any advice ? Thanks all and glad I found this thread

      Hi David,

First thing is ordering a full testosterone panel to check levels. Understand however the difference between Dr. "Normal " and optimal.

Second, take a look at your lifestyle, are you working out, eating right kinds of foods. Adjust foods to increase bloodflow and testosterone. Do a reboot of system. Cleanse system from drugs.

      Try supplements instead of drugs.

Third, hows your mind? Need to declutter your mind. Keep it pure.. stay away from porn... it affects the mind negatively more than understood.

Forth - while i understand its difficult. Engage your spouse at a more emotional level. Take time to learn her again and have personal time with her. Fall in love with her again...

The mind is a complex thing as is the body. If you feel you've done these things and still not getting affects desired, then i would look at reversal as it is the only thing that is chemically different. Regardless of science, God made us all different and tampering with order of things can have side effects.

Im following these myself, im noticing improvements. However, If after 6 months i see no significant improvements, ill opt to do reversal for the peace of mind... if it doesnt work then ill know is a chemical imbalance that can only be resolved through drugs which i pray that it's not.

      Take care friend. God bless!

Get your doc to do full bloods including testosterone.

And surgery to the nuts can cause problems. I had the snip then corrective surgery then my T plummeted to between 5 and 9 nmol (uk). Normal is 20. Been on replacement therapy now and it's only peaking at 15. So still not great.

Realized you already had a reversal, probably for a different thread... that just causes confusion. Still, my advise on what to do is ideal..

If reversal was without problems or damage, then its something else..

Start with blood work, go from there.
