Anyone else had a Bartholin Cyst removed with C02 laser

Posted , 28 users are following.

I finally found a doctor in LA using C02 laser to drain cyst and remove cyst wall. Just had it done two days ago. According to medical studies online, this is the procedure that has the lowest reoccurance rate of Bartholin Cysts. Any other women out there had it done and care to weigh in on results?

Why is this so difficult to find doctors who will do this?  I'm in Boston with a billion doctors and hospitals and can't find anyone who does laser??  You can find lots thstnwill do cosmetic lasern to the opening but cans find people to medically treat this pretty common condition.  It's so frustrating

Because its a high risk procedure and not many doctors specialize in it.  Secondary doctors is losing their patience .Now medicine is not about cure a patient and make them healthy but how to make money.

Hi there... may I ask how you are doing?  Has the cyst returned?

I have suffered from my Bartholin cyst for almost 5 years. How long did it take to heal?

Do you have a large hole down there?  Any input would greatly be appreciated.

I am very interested in having this procedure done.  Did you have to be put under for the procedure?

Also, might I ask what it cost?  Thanks

Hello. I am doing amazing. No hole. No Cyst return.  The doctor who did is an endometrial surgeon in NC .. Dr Kevin Stepp did the surgery. He basically opened it, then layered it . You can’t tell it was even done.  My insurance paid so not sure the cost.  Everyone should have this done . Saves years of ongoing agony

Thanks! Did you have the Laser or just a marsupialization?

i went to Dr Stepp site and i dont see anything about laser services just laproscpic procedures so im guessing it was not the CO 2 treatment like Dr Ghozland does in Los Angeles which is $2500 and not covered by insurance

I was surprised to discover that the $500 "deposit" did not count towards the $2500 cost of the procedure and follow-up. Just a heads-up.

what??really? They told me my consultation tomorrow would be complimentary and the total for the procedure was $2500 . I guess ill see what happens when i get there

I thought that it must have been an error and reached out to have it corrected but was told that it was correct. It's possible that I was mis-billed, such as by someone who was new. I would confirm in advance.

Hi, I see your reply was 15 months ago so I wonder how you’re doing now and has the cyst returned? I’m near Raleigh NC and looking for a local doctor who does the laser treatment. I’ve had my cyst drained twice now within the span of 6 weeks - the first time they inserted a Word catheter but it fell out after 9 days and the cyst quickly came back. My OBGYN now is suggesting marsupilization, but I’m interested in the laser treatment from the research I’ve done it seems to be less invasive and lowest rate for recurrence.

i have an appt with Dr Ghozland on Tuesday. Do you think it was worth the money since insurance wont cover his CO2 treatment? How are your results doing?

I haven't had it done - mine has not returned since I had a minor procedure to widen opening at site ofan earlier marsupialization which was good for over 4 years. It has been almost 2 years since then & I'm good. I would go for a marsupialization first, but if you did that and it failed the laser seems better than full surgical gland removal to me. Serrapeptase & mucinex saved me - large doses of both together got one and only post-marsupialization cyst to drain & I think regular use of normal doses of both (I do serrapaptase everday & mucinex 2-3 times a week - more if having lots if sex) has prevented another recurrence for me.
