anyone else in pain with pcos?

It sounds strange but recently it has felt like my ovaries have been hurting, my stomach can be quite tender to touch where they are located and it feels like they are generally aching. I was just wondering if it was normal and if anyone else has experienced pain with pcos.

I was diagnosed with pcos just over 12 months ago after a 7 year battle with my weight and (previous) GP! I had rapidly gained weight after a miscarriage, then my periods stopped for two years - long story short I had most of the symtoms of pcos but my GP refused to listen, he also thought I was a complete waste of time and resources "lay off the chips and you'll be fine" he said, he sent me for blood tests (ie) cholestrol, glucose, hormones but other than that he was adament my weight gain had affected my cycle - he made me feel terrible so I never asked about it again...My periods started back two yrs later.... 12 months ago I hit an all time low, I was going hair where a lady should grow it (unless your 80+), the pain was sometimes too much more so on my right side going down my leg the bleeding was/is horrible at times especially in a morning....anyway finally got myself a Dr that would listen and look through previous medical history she referred me ...... low and behold I have pcos! My symtoms are much the same as before excess hair, skin tags, thicker skin on elbows, weight gain (massive) around my stomach, sometimes i have a period sometimes i don't, pain in my right ovary and sometimes I'm in pain when ovulating, bloating, and hard abdomen. I'm now taking Orlistat to help with weight loss as I've been following SW and hardly lost anything. I get completely fed up of it! Anyone else? x

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS (2 months). I am 40 and apparently have had this for a long time. The thing is, is that I have been complaining about these symptoms for years to several different GYN's. I would get the lecture that I am overweight and that is causing the the symptoms (irregular period, facial hair, skin tags, weight gain etc.). My dermatologist pushed me to talk to the Gyn about the facial hair. I went to my Gyn again and talked to him about my symptoms. Again I got the lecture that I am overweight and the weight causes the symptoms. I told him that my dermatologist told me to talk to them. Only then did he refer me to a specialist (after trying to talk me out of it). The specialist told me I had PCOS and that was part of my weight issue (not other way around). I knew things weren't right with my body. I get weird pains in my abdomin. Sometimes they are stabing, sharp and twisted. Other times it just feels like bad period cramps without a period.
I have noticed that when my period is late I get very crampy and bloated. This continues until I finally have my period. Around my period I also get what I guess may be best described as IBS. Haven't been diagnosed. I think the sharper pains may be a cyst bursting.
I also get very nauseous all the time. I didn't associate that with PCOS until reading these threads.
I was very angry that these men gyno's just wrote me off and blamed my weight for everything when it turns out that my weight may be a symptom. Seriously had a Dr. that just met me tell me to stop eating fast food and I should eat a banana for breakfast instead of McDonalds. I don't eat McDonalds (infact I don't eat breakfast). He made the assumption based on my weight.
I was relieved when I got the diagnosis. I haven't started treatment yet. I have to wait for my period to get my lab work and we will go from there.

I know how you feel as I'm only 17 and I only put it down to puberty when I was younger too! But when I was 16 I got told it was pcos and I was gutted, but then I went for scans after scans and it's getting sorted slowly. At least I knew why my pains was so bad now! X

I didn't think much about 2006 until this year, I have had no period for a year after coming off the combined pill (yasmin)
Every month it seems I get pregnancy symptoms nausea, sore nipples, Back pain, cramps, .. and obviously no period.
However, I still don't know if this normal. ? I have been scanned and confirmed pcos and multifolicle in left ovaries.
I am still none of the wiser about anything and all ive really been told is... if I want to conceive I need to pay private and to contact acu.
Is this normal pain once a month? Does anyone know about treatment. . Cost. .. procedure? Can anyone help me

Why have they told you to go private, surely you are entitled to help?!

Hiya ive been scrolling through trying to find answers and seen yours being only 2 weeks old, I've been having a constant pain in my lower right admonen I've had 2 scans which came back with pcos but still having the pain. The doctors keep telling me that the pain would be the eggs bursting and that this should only last a few days but mine is constant and is made worse with certain movements! I've now been booked in for another scan to see what else they can find. Hopefully I'll get some answers! Xx

I had the same thing happen except I actually started spotting and it went on for around 11 days. It was barely anything but I knew something was wrong at that point. I had always suspected pcos but nobody ever listened to me. I made an appt with a new obgyn and went Tuesday. They did a vaginal ultrasound and I called yesterday for my results. My doctors nurse didn't tell me much other than I have cysts on my ovaries (which I expected but still upset me) and the doctor wanted to speak with me in person to come up with a plan. She mentioned managing it so it wasn't too painful and even surgery. I just hope there wasn't anything bad she didn't tell me. I'm having pain on my left ovary that is fairly constant. I go Thursday for my consultation so hopefully I will find out more then. Good luck to you! I totally understand how frustrating this is.
